60 Jun 20 Comment I think the Bird of Paradise, for all its beauty, is one of the hardest flowers to photograph!! I'm wondering if you considered selecting a small piece of it, for instance on the upper left side, to focus on in lieu of the entire flower? One of the difficulties is its hazy white layer on a large part of the main part, the "head." Because it is white, it immediately draws my eye as a viewer, while the bright, clean parts are not as prominent due to busy or non-contrasty background or deep shadows in some places. Good use of vignette. Looks like you took it with a semi-wide angle lens? Jun 19th
60 Jun 20 Comment Bob, your crop creates a very captivating image of this French Horn. The angle, the clarity and the dark background really makes this image pop. Very artistic and technically well-done! Jun 19th

80 Jun 20 Comment I had a very odd reason for not doing that, even though I considered it. It reminded me of someone who I knew that passed away, and he wore his keys like that and was always underweight so his body type in jeans and shirt were nearly identical. Jun 13th
80 Jun 20 Comment These are all great insights. I sill like my original, recognizing that I would have benefitted from not having someone in white so close behind the subject. Vignettes are a great suggestion, and I'm sure toning down, selective desaturation all are possible, but it loses the street look for me then. What a quandary! I just like the musician's look!

80 Jun 20 Comment Your comments are understandable. After seeing the webinar by James Maher today, I think I feel more comfortable standing firm with my work. As street photography, there is no perfect setup. The choice was to take the picture in a crowded venue or not. It could have been a white sign, a building or a car. If I vignette, it will be labeled by some as a portrait. This man is a street musician in a candid street image. If you didn't see the webinar today, I suggest it. It will help us all in our critiques of street photography, I think. Jun 4th
80 Jun 20 Comment Oh, one more comment: I love that you didn't straighten the post. It is perfect as is. Jun 2nd
80 Jun 20 Comment Super image! It makes a strong initial impact, is down to the essential components, and fits the title perfectly. His pose vis a vis your positioning really enhances this image, as do the colors that have combined here. Very pleasing image. It has some story, too, as with his position and the cup, he looks like he could be relaxing or down for the count with grog. Jun 2nd
80 Jun 20 Comment Perfect treatment for it. I feel like the story is readily apparent but also interesting with the combination of elements and the composition works well for it. Jun 2nd
80 Jun 20 Comment This image definitely invites the viewer to wonder what the story is. I did actually think, based on the pole at the left-hand side, that the guy was practicing some weird dive and I thought maybe the other man was taking a picture but because I can't see his camera and I can see a pack full of paraphernalia, I thought he was doing some kind of fishing maneuver Involving the diving man. Maybe a different crop...vertical, without the extraneous poles? Jun 2nd
80 Jun 20 Comment The woman's look of surprise is captured well by you, and it feels nice and connected with the horse. Since it would be very hard to remove the 2 half-bodies, I was wondering if you can crop in tighter off the right hand side?

Regardless, I like it and feel it has great detail!

80 Jun 20 Comment Great facial expressions make this image, and the bright white of the tray helps that initial impact by closing the triangle made by the two women and the food.

I would like to see the woman on the left in more detail on her face. With the bright yellow background, it feels like I've hit a wall when I reach her deeply shadowed face. It is a wonderful street image for sure!
