The lighting is really beautiful in this; did you also warm it a bit? On my monitor it has a predominance of yellow, but that could be exactly what it looked like. Other than the color balance maybe being pulled back toward blue (so, so slightly), I like the march of the trees into the frame on a diagonal. You don't see that too often and it works well for your image. This feels more about the bark and the tree structure than it does about the cherry blossoms for me. Unfortunately, the background of blossoms are lost in the exposure. So is there a way to bring down the exposure on the back left? Just in the background area? Or darken the foreground and leave the light placement toward the back? Overall, I do like your balance of light and shadow on the tree trunks and branches. |

Okay, so they ARE this blue!! Great shot, great pose, and really great lighting! His pose and background are enhanced by your crop. There isn't anything I would change about this image; its a beautiful capture and technically well done! |

Wow! I love this action shot, along with those spectacular colors! The blues and pinks may feel a little tiny bit oversaturated, but I am not familiar with all birds and fish, and I know herons have some pretty stunning colors at certain times of the year. The blue and pink just feel saturated out of proportion to the orange of his bill. The action is sharp, including the water splashes! Maybe work a little on desaturating and raising the luminosity of the blue of the wings? Other than that, incredible capture! |

This feels very artistic, with an interesting and successful composition. The leading lines are perfect, but I would try to remove the one long, light stalk and the one horizontal, light stalk in the upper left quadrant, if it wasn't too difficult. Other than those two things, I wouldn't change a thing. This image would be very pleasant to look at day after day--it tells a story of summer coming with its lazy kick-back days. Beautiful shot and composition!! |

These are the most amazing flowers, and you've done it wonderful justice in your image, Sharon! The composition works very well, along with the color balance, lights and shadows, and strong, sharp details. I love your clever creation of the better background, and it looks very natural to my eye. I was going to say this would be incredible printed and framed, and your idea sounds right to me. Great image! |

I know many people who create a temporary background and insert it behind the flower in order to eliminate those kinds of issues. Ie an 11x14 printed paper background they either print or purchase. |

This is so beautifully done, soft and dreamy yet sharp and crisp where it needs to be. Terrific balance and color. And I do love what you did with the added texture....great job! The only thing I would suggest is that you increase the whites a bit to make it a little less flat in the lighting. You might even try to isolate the fore-flower, the main subject, a bit when adding the additional light so that it falls very subtly ONLY on that one flower, feathering it forward from the background. I love this image! |

Your treatment of the background definitely lent itself well to the presentation of this hibiscus, as well as increasing clarity, although to my eye, you already had good clarity in the original. It is nice and crisp. And the colors are strong without being overly saturated. Its a great capture of the flower; I can't say I'm keen about the way the sky cuts across the top third, but a change in shooting perspective could cure that? Strong capture of the hibiscus itself, esp. capturing such great depth, even with f22! |

These flowers really are beautiful and a harbinger of Spring and positivity, of course. It looks like you captured the detail well, and that your image is very sharp (a result of the f32, I'm sure!). I wondered what your shutter speed was, as on my screen, it is quite subdued in lighting. If you have this tree if your yard, have you considered finding an isolated flower without any other flowers impinging? I think it is strong enough to stand on its own, and the other things behind it distract my eye from the beauty of this one blossom. |

The way the light falls on this little guy and shows a catchlight in his eye is magnificent! That, along with the sharpness and detail you've pinned down, give it great impact. Finally, the orange against the green along with the composition gives it dimension and pop. This is a lovely image, John! |

The clarity and the contrast, along with really beautifully combined colors, makes this image pop. Tweaking the sharpness has introduced some halo-ing along edges, so you might need to work that a little. But I find it a very pleasing image!

Yes, I hated that I had to still crop in so much, which introduced lots of extra noise. This image wasn't my first choice, but just lots of fun to try to get. I know there is lots of work still to be done with it, and I will try darkening the background; great suggestion! I goaded him a bit to see if I could get him to present a better side to me, but he wasn't having any of that! And I don't like to frighten them before releasing them back into the wild. Oh, and yes, absolutely I do shoot in RAW. |
