You are to be commended on this handheld capture with both heavy lens and extender. It is technically and aesthetically perfect in my opinion. Beautiful angle and pose on the bird....this is a winner! |

The colors give this a great impact, and it is an interesting find. Compositionally, I would like to see less background, if the nest is the main subject. Such a strong background competes with the nest and overwhelms it. I do like the various directional elements. |

Great shot! To my eye, the level of detail and the sharpness is just right, along with the color and white balance. Very natural looking. While I don't like the membrane, it's part of what makes him interesting. There is some sort of artifact around his beak; otherwise, I like this exactly as it is! |

Of course all images are So personal And are adjusted according to the persons taste and it is the same for the viewer's interpretation.. I have been to this location and it is quite stunning and spiritually evocative. I don't know that pictures ever really do it justice. Having said that I think that you have done a nice job of capturing it from a beautiful perspective, including texture and lights and shadows. To my taste, the HDR is too prevalent, and the reds are very strong. The log adds interest, but due to the space around it, it doesn't blend in for me in a natural way. I do like Mike's crop better. |

Well, Bill, actually, if I were critiquing my own image, I would have mirrored your comments exactly! I think I used too slow of a shutter speed, although the flash was supposed to have compensated for that, so I'm not sure why it blurred at the top like that. What I do like, is how the bowl lines seem to be "holding" the bottom of the drop, but I do feel the softness at the top is a big detractor. I just wanted to get a range of opinions. We are told by PSA that we are not always seeking to submit our perfect shots, but the ones we want input into, to see how we can improve them and ourselves. So this one met that goal at least!!! And I have many shots from that same experiment. I appreciate your candor! |

Beautifully balanced in both color and lights v. shadows. It is a beautiful capture of an old radio, and you have retained the texture and that feeling of "history" in it. I cannot believe you handheld it as 1/20th!!! Great capture in what must have been a very dark environment and the dust is a perfect touch. I also feel you picked the perfect crop for it. Wonderful image! |

Technically, you have caught the thorns on the cactus and the strands of the web quite well; you have also got a nice grouping of colors between the light green and the more teal background elements. Aesthetically, I would prefer to see less subject matter and background. The stems in particular don't add to the subject but they do distract me, being as strongly captured as they are. They are quite prominent, and yet not feeling like they are framing the subject. If the spider web is the focus of the image, perhaps photographing it further in front of the cactus, so that the cactus is nicely blurred into a background? |

What a fun image! Nice balance and lighting, giving it a natural feeling while still maintaining the "pop" of the glowing light. Those textured buttons are fantastic; could you mix one or two into the lower left quadrant? It would balance out the red a little bit, I think. Very clever. There is one big highlight on the larger blue button that could be easily cloned out, and the white space doesn't detract for me at all. I like a bit of white space, as you have included. I also noticed a thread remaining and a little metal piece, and they don't detract at all, but make it feel more like a natural spill from a button jar! |

Your capture of the texture lends itself well to the organic beauty of this flower, along with it being expertly lit by you. There is wonderful balance to the light, so it has depth and jumps forward off the background. I wouldn't change anything; it's a lovely capture! |

You seem to have achieved your goals, with a nice soft background and a little bokeh. The jaguar is sharp and yet has a liquid feeling in texture. Question: was the line in the background leading toward the Jaguar's face intentional? I would like to see if it can be removed, along with the dark area and the flare along the lower edge toward the middle-left. The other highlights seem to work for me....I don't feel them as hotspots, just reflections. Only a diffuser could have really eliminated those in the initial capture. Great job! |

This image really works well! It is crisp, detailed, beautifully exposed and color-balanced. The cropping feels somewhat close on the bottom to me, and somewhat wide on the right-hand side (from viewer's perspective). If you are able to change the crop, this is a wonderful image! Great job! |
