Okay, this is an envy shot....one I would expect to see posted with a million views on the Internet. It is gorgeous. It feels like an Earth shot, you know, one of those, "as seen from the heavens." I especially like the balance of lights and shadows, and the way you captured the water. 20 seconds was exactly right. Leave it as is....its a wonderful image! Nature and art together. |

Wow! You got a one-in-a-million shot there! It is sharp, has great clarity, a perfect subject-to-background DOF, and light that is so good and diffused that it would look like supplemental light except for its very natural feel. There isn't anything I would change about this. Your crop is really just right for this. Congrats! This is one I would definitely enter into a competition. |

What a terrific action shot!!! How the heck did you get this handheld? My hat is off to you! This image really appeals to me from its beautiful technical capture to its story. The way the light falls on the bird and lights up his color contrast is amazing! If you feel like fooling with it, just a little more contrast between bird and water--the water has so much texture that it is almost overpowering as a background. I love this image!! |

Your capture is so beautiful! For me, bringing up the shadows on the eye and getting rid of the halo is all it needs. Is there a way to put a light "source" from the left side going toward the heron that will shed more light on the eye and front of the wings? Great image! |

Great image that feels balanced, sharp, and with a very pleasing color combination to me. My only suggestion is to try to blur the background foliage somewhat. It feels like there is so much going on around the subjects. How about vignetting the corners and brightening the interior just a bit? I love the image and think it needs very little to make it go from good to great. |

The composition works so well for this image, along with the way the light falls on the flower. The bud is actually my favorite part! The face seems soft to me and that is where my eye keeps being drawn to. The wings are sharp, as is the eye, but the angle of the head makes me feel like I am seeing a one-eyed dragonfly. Not helpful comments, but I just don't know on this one. I think the comments of the others are way more helpful. |

Yes, that is a glass reflecting ball on the front of the perch. Thanks for the input! |

Denise, this feels perfect to me. I would try removing the bright spot up in the left, but other than that, it feels good to me as a viewer and is an interesting shot. I particularly love the subtle leading lines you used in your composition. They aren't anything obvious, but they led my eye right into the hood ornament. She is beautifully exposed, by the way--the lighting is very appealing. Great job!! I would encourage you to enter this into one of the monochrome competitions. |

Your capture of the plant feels great--its sharp, clear, and has great balance and lighting. Its color feels very natural to me. The background gives great contrast while still being nice and soft. The only change I would try is to lighten the shadows on your bee. I know he's not the real subject, but because he is there, it feels to me as a viewer like he needs to have more detail--he is too sharp to blend into the background, but too dark at first glance. That is personal preference, of course. I love the image. |

Nadia, this is a wonderfully sharp image. The DOF feels just right, with a lovely soft background but perfect clarity where it counts. The light is magnificent; you've certainly mastered that. My only suggestion has to do with either cropping or maintaining space in your shot--it feels a little tight to me on the right; he could use more space to the right of his face. Did you consider a rectangular crop to leave him some room on the right and move the emphasis toward his head/eye? You have his body perfectly posed to lead the viewer's eye right into his face. |

Bill, this is a beautiful image, certainly one I would encourage you to enter in a contest. The clarity feels perfect to me...not oversharpened, very natural, but definitely sharp in all the right places, with enough softness in the background to not detract from your excellent capture. The composition feels good, too. Normally, I like to see more space in front of the face of an insect or animal, but on this one, it feels good and puts the emphasis right on those magnificent (and unusual) green eyes. Great job! |
