65 Apr 26 Comment A nice image and funny interpretation. The exposure, composition, and detail are excellent. When I take photos of orchids, I always shoot the flowers and not the buds, so your intention of interpreting the buds as a family is a creative way of photographing orchids. I wonder if your interpretation would be improved if you cropped some from the top and the right. That way the bright white and colorful flowers would be less distracting and the buds would be more prominent. Apr 13th
65 Apr 26 Comment Lovely capture of the fern! The composition, exposure, and color saturation are spot-on. I discovered ferns in a local park last year and learned how hard it can be to photograph them. So I'm very impressed with your handheld focus stack using a telephoto lens when you probably were stooped down, kneeling, or sitting on the ground!! I never imagined I could do such a nice job as the one you have done. (I'd love to know how you did it.) I agree with David that you could crop off that lower leaf. Otherwise, great job! Apr 6th
65 Apr 26 Comment Very nice capture of the orchid! You got all of the important parts of the flower in focus without doing a focus stack. The colors, exposure, and composition are excellent. I agree with David that Original 2 does a better job in keeping the viewer's eye on the flower. My only suggestion is to try using a circular polarizer to reduce the glare the next time you photograph such shiny flowers. Apr 6th
65 Apr 26 Comment Such a cool capture! It's amazing to see a crocus growing through those relatively small openings in the leaf. I like the composition, exposure, and color saturation. You also made the right edits by removing the other flowers. (Photoshop did an amazing job filling in the areas behind the flowers you removed.) Yeah, maybe you could have removed a little off the bottom, but you couldn't have removed very much without ruining the uniqueness of the capture. However, I would have included a little more space at the top of the image so it doesn't looks like the flower is crammed into the frame. In addition, the small leaf above the flower is a little distracting not only because it's touching the flower, but also because it's in focus. I would blur (or remove) that leaf. Apr 6th
65 Apr 26 Comment Good catch about the focal length. I forgot to add that I was using a Lensbaby +4 macro filter on the lens. Thanks for your comments. Apr 6th
65 Apr 26 Reply Good idea to use a polarizer. I noticed that the reflections were very controlled. I should have suspected that you used a polarizer. Apr 1st
65 Apr 26 Comment Really nice capture. The berries appear very appetizing--the composition is balanced and pleasing, the exposure is very good, and the details are great. That opposite facing berry really stands out, not only because it is facing in the opposite direction of the neighboring berries but also because the top of the berry is a little brighter than the surrounding berries. Did you lighten it a tad in post to make it stand out better? Apr 1st
