Good to see Venice in bad weather, the weather seems to bring out a different charm from the place. The night image with the reflection is very striking. |

For me maybe not for the others in the group Venice is one of those places that you have seen everything 100 times and if you judge you can add some 0 to that, Cuba and Iceland are other places that are becoming that way.
Here you have captured the classic scene of the Riva Degli Schiavone which I take is very early in the morning as there is no people about and all the Gondola's are in place. You have taken the image nicely with good detail and some nice colours.
Venice is a wonderful place and needs to be on the bucket list of most people to visit once for a couple of days.
Were you there for the festival? |

Classic but also fantastic shot with great cloud cover to frame the mount and allowing you to see the detail of the ridges in the side of the mount.
I must admit I like both versions, I cannot workout what those things are in the bottom right corner that look like a herd of sheep.
The mono version is good and you really do get to see all the detail of Batok which is very impressive.
Not have a great time out that way at the moment according to the news with one of the Volcanoes going up. |

Considering the building has been abandoned since the 1970's its has wared well. The elements and the natural foliage have not taken control yet. The tree's are starting to encroach, but would not take that great an effort to rescue this one.
Your monochrome conversion is very good and good amount of detail, nice contrast and a good depth to the image.
I like that dead tree in the gap to the left, it adds something to the image. |

This is outstanding and I expect to see this on the circuit a few times and the detail, tone and quality is spot on and cannot be flawed.
But if this came up for judging in front of me as it is I would only give it a 2 or 3. Your horizon is off, it's down to the angle of your camera as well as the horizon not being straight, so I would sort this out first as this image is so worth it as it is outstanding image after the correction. |

This is one of those times that maybe you just go oh well, next time. To solve the problem in this image it need to be done at the time of taking, if you look at the histogram of your original you have no midtone's to speak of and no highlights at all, so half of your image is missing and you need to put that back. The problem when you try to put them back you will start to strench your pixels till they break and with this image that is very quickly done.
I have tried to have a go with luminosity mask, I attacked the darks first to see if I could open them up to allow me to see the highlights, then used the highlights to bring the image out. Then used a midtone 2 to try and balance the image. After this I did a couple of masks to cope with the shades of yellow and orange to balance them out. Finally using a red mask to balance to whole image.
Then I cropped the image so the central rock was on the bottom left third cross and that balanced well with the telegraph pole. Leveled the image as sloping down to the right. Ran the image through DxO Dfine for noise reduction. Finished.
Why did you not try putting your camera on the ground or rucksack or something and shot a long exposure? Hignsight is a horrible thing.

You do get around and here you have chosen a wonderful view to share with us, I must admit looking at the image I would not have said that this was not China as it has more of a feel of an Alps or Norway hill view.
I take it your on a trip and your time is controlled in some way so the time of day is stuck for when you are there. I may have stayed in the area and done this image again a couple of times with different light of the day if time was not a constraint.
I would like to see if you could get just a touch more contrast into the image to see if you can combat all that light, but the detail and the DOF is spot on.
Did you take a portrait image as well with the rippled reflection, as it would be nice to see if the reflection would anchor the image.
Lovely landscpe to view, thank you. |

Your conversion has given the image a great depth and detail and you have to wonder why those awful fences have to be there. That sky is wonderful. A great view of a vast land.
Nowadays you do look a images like this and have to wonder what this land looked liked before man came. |

You don't say that the notch is actually a seat, in some very old buildings and churches over hear you see this shape notch done for kneeling or preying slots.
You have controlled the light well and the tones have come out well. The layer of the notch are well defined and you have held the detail in the shutters.
Nice old style image. |

The lady makes this image, she is so well dressed and has the perfect hairstyle for this image that the whole thing falls into place. The building has been taken at such a nice angle that invites you to walk to that front door. Classic image that has been thought out well and is nicely done. |

Classic still life image of a white feather on black glass, well lit with your highlights just right, you could pull the back a quarter stop. I would do some spotting and remove all those white spots on the black.
Yes you could crop this, if you do, pull it from the top till the bottom third line is level with the bottom centre of the feather. Otherwise lovely monochrome image. |

You very rarely see images of the valley walk to the Treasure, this image is impressive and shows off the towering sides well and the detail, but even this I don't think shows off the power of the pass and the massive walls. But you have given it a great attempt and the image has a fabulous feel. I like the way the clouds have opened up for you.
This does show how well the Tokina lens have come on from the image quality or is it just a great photographer. Good image |

I cannot help it, but I look at this and I see that head, then the two in front with the wide mouths escaping from that angry head, even the mouth on the head looks angry and the front goose is looking backwards. Will they make it or not? So has to be a good image if my warped brain sees all that in it. Well captured. |
