Hello Stuart, Thank you for your comment on my image, I do agree with you about cropping the image, but I wanted to give the other idea that a small boat like this goes out into that vast space every night in all weathers.
One of the big things of the south east coast of England is the shallow shingle beaches, blue sea and vast skies.
But for competition I would crop the image. |

Such a simple image that has all you want in an image. I even like that touch of the building peaking through the trees in the distance as it gives you a target to head home to.
We have a flurry of snow over here and the news goes into meltdown that the country comes to a stand still, god helps us if we get this. Wonderful. |

You have shot this well, that colour is very striking and the three boats are well depicted in the image. I like your composition, but I do wonder if you moved the boats a touch more to the left and had a touch more of that gap in the reef would have a balance. But great shot and my poor legs would not have got me half way up that lighthouse.

You have taken the image well and the image hold well owing to that gap in the trees at the far end as the viewer has somewhere to go.
But I do look at this and wonder if there was a better shot with those headstones to show off this site and make it more penitent for this historic place. |

One of my favourite films, looks like the cabin has not done so well, shame the highlights have blown, I did have to look twice to see if this was a reflection. Good view to have from your window. |

Technically you have taken this classics view well, all is sharp and the colours are good. Shame you have an English sky, bright sky or the classic mist would make more of this. I would have shot this image 5 seconds later so that white boat was the other side of the shadow.
I know the bridge starts in the bottom left corner, but I look at this and my head is wanting more on the bottom and the left, not knowing this well and there may be some monstrosity sitting there. Magneto will come and move everything anyway. |

A small foot bridge that crosses the canal further down from the gate. |

The trick with TK is small steps and see how many layers you want to affect. Make layers and masks for each of those layers in the tonal range you want to effect. Sounds difficult but becomes easy with practice. Don't forget to try a midtone to bring all the layers together at the end. Good luck. |

Where's John Wayne and his horse when you need him. Doesent that look like a gigantic gothic cathedral standing so proud lording over everything. That sums up this image. Power of the mountain and its surroundings and the best sky you could have, it seems even the sky is scared to get to close. Fabulous image. What a view to drive past every morning. |

The angles and flow of this image is amazing and is well spotted. The placement of the tree dead center is brilliant I did try it in other positions and it does not work as well.
I did try it without that shadow and that does not work either.
However what does work is removing that white patch of rock, I know it is part of the image, but pictorially is spoils the image.
Also what is that big black spot on the rock, it is not on the original and does not sit well.
Otherwise great picture. |

If you do a pose like this again, remember the bottom hand, get her to gentle hold her waist and I would have moved her hair so there was not a gap in the shadow in the hair.
I think your idea is good, but you have pushed it to far and need to hold back so there is more detail in the face and you have that great shadow so why not use it.
Larry has the right idea and I would do the same but maybe do the Vignette in white so it goes to bright instead of dark. |

Bring back the blue cast as it added to the mood, good move removing the crane and the star and I would still removed the plaque in the middle of the bridge. Still a good moody shot. |

Another Gold medal image for the circuit, Magic.
Print it large, good quality black frame with white surround and mounted on the wall. Perfect.
Question, how did you put that piece of grass in there without leaving any foot prints. lol |

Your viewpoint and composition is very good. I like the sort of line that flows through the mountains. Your problem is your histogram. There is a black and mid, but no whites and when you try and put the whites back in the image blows out.
Now you know I have been using TK for years, so I had a go, what I have done is not worry about the sky and concentrate on the mountains and put as full a histogram back in. The tonal range is not back, you can always add another sky. |
