I think the idea of this image is great and the texture you have chosen work well. But with revealing all the detail you have removed all the tones. I think putting back some of how the light would naturally fall giving more contrast and depth to the image.
Would a gentle tone help the image. |

Vincent, looking at your comment above, do you only use Lightroom or do your have Photoshop CC?
I think this is a lovely image of the dancer and the pose is timed just right so the head is just at the right angle to get the right profile of the face and I love the shape of the legs and feet. However I do think some of the highlights are a touch bright, specially the arm.
If you are going to continue taking images of this type in low light with high contrast stage light, you may want to consider looking at using Photoshop and Luminosity Masks. The best is Tony Kyper panel, What this will allow you to do is select each individual shade of grey so you will have total control over your image. It would resolve the arm and neck quite easily and should allow you to blend the blacks in to the background without much trouble. Just takes practices.
But I do think it would change the way you look and light your dance images. |

If I was scoring images out of 10 I would give this a 9.5.
It has impact the first time you look at it, the fence leads you in nicely and the barn and the far trees are beautifully defined and give that wonderful winter IR feel.
Why did you loose .5. I really don't like those two bright ferns in the bottom left corner and I think the trees in that gap to the left of the barn roof are just a touch weak compared to the trees on the right.
But a lovely image to view. |

You have asked for my opinion, this is one of those images that when I got it home I would have looked at it and decided that the cloud is quite good and would be useful in another image and may have process it to see if it was usable, otherwise I would have bypassed this image.
I am afraid that the tonality and processing the camera and PS has done leaves me stone cold. Sorry. |

You do have the body of the ant beautifully in focus and he or she works very well in monochrome. But for me the flowerhead does become very heavy in monochrome with those spikes dominating the image for me. I have to agree with Vincent that on this occasion the colour version is better for the image you present as it holds its balance better and allows the viewer see the image. |

I can understand what you are saying about the left hand side, the trees on the right are so strong that the left is left feeling very empty even though there is a lot there. I will have to go back in November when the sunlight falls in the right place to see if I can get a better composition. |
