Wars have started for less, The north Welsh people will be happy with this as they are now heading to Ireland and away from England. I must admit I did try this flip with the image and with the line of the mountain and those rocks my brain has a feeling of falling away to the right, so I did not do anything with it. Yes I would be hung over here by judges if I entered this in competitions, but entering in somewhere like America who most would not know the balance would work. Not saying it is good enough. But thank you for all the comments. |

The first thing that struck me after reading your notes was the date. September for this image. Those colours look so Autumn and September being to early but they are striking colours and work well against the rocks. I to would like a touch more of the ocean blue just to complement the image colours. In the format you have presented the image I find the space on the left very bland and act as a block to my eye, but when you flip the image the whole feel of the image changes and for me flows better for my eye. |

Ok I am going to start with my instant reaction as a photographer when I saw this image. "Oh I wish you had the camera about two feet higher". This would have just allowed those piles to be clear of the far shore line, so you had a clear line. Otherwise this image is beautiful with some wonderful colour and lighting. The reflection on the water is spot on and good lead from the stones. I would work on the tones of the stones as they could be a touch brighter. Beautiful image just wish those piles did not touch the far shore. |

Ok I am going to put the alternative argument. This is a nice record shot of the town and shows off how it sits in its surrounds. That is the pleasing picture. But you all say that that big white tower block is the problem, but I look at this image and I see pictures within the picture.
The first that jumps out is the dome and steeple contrasting against the modern tower block isolated as an image. Or maybe just the dome and the tower block. Both make a contrasting image. There is an image forming with the red roof building and the similar shaped building on the shore front and that building behind it.
The more I look at this image the more I see, but the more I find that the steeple seems to unbalance the image. But forcing the viewer to view this image in a set way takes that individual view away. So I would leave it as it is as it works.
That was a lot of waffle to say nice picture.

I would have to agree, just a touch of straitening would help the image as the two structure are leaning in to each other, so stopping that would improve the image. Also agree toning down the bright cloud top left as it dose catch the eye. But over that I would leave this image alone as the starkness and tone of the image is spot on and makes for a great landscape image. Well done for finding this image. |

Duplicate your layer, Press Control & T. Select Skew, While pressing the right shift button use the mouse to slowly pull the corners out. This will straighten the uprights.
I would get an image and practice with duplicating the layer by pressing control J. Then practice with all the different controls under Control T (Transform Tool) |

You have capture the pink granite well and show us the path with its splits and shapes. Yes it has pink tinge, I agree with Dan that the image splits down the middle so losing some of the sky would help balance the image. But it is just a record shot showing us the pink granite.

The texture and tones in this must be great and you have some lovely lines flowing out to the light. You have composed it nicely and all the lines lead nicely to the bridge. I do think some work can be done on the tonality. I find the bridge and far end very bright and could be toned back to bring out more detail and you could even darken down the tunnel a touch more. But great effort. |

Three elements coming together here to make a stunning image. The first is that wonderful light falling across the image and I love the way it lights the ears. Second is the great eye which is concentrated on something special, third and for me the most important is those wonderful whiskers which fills the image. You detail is spot on and background is nicely defused. Great impact. |

I left the light from the windows to show where the light was coming and to balance the light wall on the left. I found if I toned the right down the left became to dominate and you end up going round in circles fighting balance. |

The saying is "being in the right place at the right time" and this fills that all the way. Good atmosphere with some nice depth from the layers of the buildings. Cracking image. Not sure I have a city in the UK that we could get this effect in. |

I look at this and the words that come to mind are "power, grace and dignity". Amma looks so beautifully and proud and that is down to the work and planning the photographer has done. The pose is spot on. The angle is just right for the light falling through the window and no glaring highlights. Your handling of this image is brilliant, and I await to see this image around the circuit.
The graceful face is so good, you cannot help but smile, really well done.

I have to agree that that the simplicity of this image is its power. The detail is all there and that line of lines fills that space. What I also like is a bit of a manipulation mistake where the grass/bush on the right now looks like a tree in the distance just peeking out of the gloom which just balance the image. Very strong image. |
