That green is something else! I wonder what a polarizer would have done for the image by maybe bringing out more color in the water? I'll have to add this to the very long list of places I would like to travel to! |

I think some cropping to bring the focus more on the child and old homestead would give the image more impact. It would also remove the butchered parts of the tree canopy which I find distracting. This looks like an image from New England, not what I think of when I picture Virginia. Do they get regular snow or is this a rare phenomenon? |

Lovely soft lighting. I might have added a reflector behind the subject to bounce some light and add some highlights to keep her hair from melting into the background too much. |

That is a wild looking flower. I think the saturation boost really helps with impact, and Brian's crop also helps. Any idea what they are called? |

Here is an old picture of me giving a macro program. It shows an off shoe flash I have mounted on a spike. I'll try to find some others. |

I think the tree trunk is the reflection of the neck? |

I do like the subject, perch, and pose of this image. I'm usually shooting these guys in the winter so a cactus is quite the change. The thing that really distracts me is the shadow of the wing on the body. Other than that I think its a great image In regards to wing blur I don't have a strong preference. It adds impact in some photos and takes away from it in others... |

Anhinga are already such a strange looking bird, but this is quite the pose! I love pictures like this that take a familiar subject and look at it from a different perspective. It definitely has impact! |

I agree on cropping out the top of the picture, but think you have done a fantastic job capturing these very grumpy looking birds. The more I look at your image the more there is to see. As Roy said, you could crop this a number of ways and get multiple interesting results. |

I don't prefer the tighter crop that Butch and Roy have done compared to your capture as the dirt being kicked up really helps with the impact of the image. I would like a little more room in the frame for the bird to move into though... I love this image and I bet the trip was fascinating! |

I like this pose of the wren. It adds a lot of interest to bird that isn't as flashy as some of its other cousins. Technically the picture is excellent with that lovely green background. Well done. |
