25 Feb 26 Reply I have a Canon PRO-1100 which replaced my old Epson 4800. I am very happy with it. I print mostly on 13 x 19" paper and lately have been experimenting with some of the Red River papers, but in the past have used Epson and Canon Pro Luster papers. I dry mount my prints to 16 x 20 black foam core and then cut a mat using black matboard. Feb 10th
25 Feb 26 Comment That is a stunning picture. I would love to see these someday, but to get to see a sunrise like this is beyond any expectation. Well done... Feb 7th
25 Feb 26 Comment Its been so cold this winter that we have been seeing light pillars (google it) on a regular basis (right now its -9F with a -25F windchill). Bravo for actually getting out with a camera as I have been hibernating in the house for the past two months. I like the lighting, but the subject doesn't have much impact for me. Feb 7th
25 Feb 26 Comment The colors are beautiful on this and I would love to see it as a print, especially on metallic paper. Its a stunning image. Feb 7th
25 Feb 26 Comment I feel like this needs a pumpkin in the corner :) Around here the snow covers up all our leaves around Halloween. There are some nice leading lines in this picture. I wonder if the visual impact could be improved by getting much closer to one of the leaves in the front so that it filled a lot more of the frame with the trail of leaves behind it. Feb 7th

97 Feb 26 Reply How does this look? One of the nature centers around us was having a photo contest to raise money so I re-edited based on your suggestions and submitted this. Feb 7th
97 Feb 26 Comment I have heard great things about this location and will have to visit it someday. The partial shadows and pose make for a tough image to edit, but the breeding plumage is beautiful! Feb 7th
97 Feb 26 Comment Grebes are so cute already, and then a chick! This is a good example of a tough subject to mask, and along the wings you can see artifacts on the pin feathers. I might have not lowered the exposure of the background so much to try to reduce these, or feather the mask a bit more along the wings. The pose on this is perfect. Feb 7th
97 Feb 26 Comment Great shot! I don't mind the crop giving the bird a little room to lift his head up. Its a nice shot that isn't gruesome but still tells the story. Feb 7th
97 Feb 26 Comment These are beautiful birds, similar to our Cedar Waxwings but better looking. They never seem to want to perch with a nice background though since the fruit trees and berry bushes are always a tangle of branches. So glad you got to see them! Feb 7th
97 Feb 26 Comment I love the atmosphere of this photograph. I'm instantly transported to early morning fishing and all of the sounds associated with it. I did a quick edit to add in a gradient mask to lighten the upper right of the picture to balance out the loon in the bottom right. Feb 7th
97 Feb 26 Reply Thanks Butch, honestly I'm not disappointed in the season as much as the organization. They did better than I thought they would given the roster and injuries, but the HC firing and press conference coupled with the new stadium ticket costs ($20K a seat upfront + your season ticket cost after substantial help from the state) are leaving a bad taste in my mouth. Being a Bills fan has never been easy though :)

Appreciate the feedback on the image. I never got this one where I really liked it and was hoping for some pointers to go back and try some things. The attached image is one of my favorites from the day (heck probably a top 10 in my life) and has gotten perfect scores at both the local camera clubs. The print of it came out very nice and will probably go on my wall after the camera club season.

97 Feb 26 Reply That's good to know. I am interested in competing in some of the PSA competitions in the nature category and am trying to come up with images that follow their very strict category rules. As a relative newcomer to PSA I haven't found it to be as user friendly as expected to find things in regard to competing on the website. The photo clubs I am a member of don't have many restrictions on editing as long as its your own work. Feb 1st
