Good one Lois. I like the design element in your image and you have a good eye for such subjects. It makes one introspect on the image and journey within the frame. It also tells a lot about the author and the thought process. I find the image flat and you could emphasize the tonality with more work in photoshop. I note that David too has suggested a workflow. I agree you can improvise as this image is good. |

Good one Michael. You captured the moment! Approach using shallow depth of field helps highlight the main element here. I wish the guy with the cap did not appear in your frame! But then such photo journalistic images cannot be controlled too much as they would lose the decisive moment. Still you could try to tone down the whites in the background to emphasize the main element. |

Good subject here, simple and serene. More apt for hanging on the wall than competition, unless it is for landscapes/seascapes thematic as David has pointed. The tonality is flat here as the whites have been lost. In such instances color would be the preferred medium. For mono, you could work on it more to get some contrast and punch without losing the details. |

Interesting info here. Jerry you show us how to solve or rather ensure images are not lost with new techniques. Though not a video bug, I do take video of my group. But your info definitely helps. The image has good punch with contrast. But I note that the blacks and whites have been adversely affected. I would interpret that the tonality, in particular the shadows and highlights have been compromised. But with your explanation it indicates a retrieval of an important moment that would be lost in video! |
