My idea would be to get in closer and maybe add some additional light to emphasize the edges. Maybe try focus stacking since the subject isn't going anywhere. This plant is a wonderful subject and you can try many different possibilities! |

Did you use a tripod or monopod? That is what gets me using the Phones -- my shaky hands. |

Nice composition with leading lines! I agree with Mary Ann on adding some contrast. The bright spot on the upper right from the sun draws my attention away from the main subject but this is difficult to correct. The people in the image really add to the sense of size. One nice thing about B&W images is that dramatic images can be made in bright sunny conditions. Did you compensate for the wide angle lens in LR? |

Very nice image. Good whites and blacks. Good background. I like the way the blur reduces the impact of the flower head in the front. Sometimes we just have to minimize distractions. Can you explain what you mean with "turning on HDR"? |

You have chosen a subject that is difficult and have done a good job producing the image. The difficulty is that the subject is almost entirely green and no really strong light source. I wonder how the image would look if you really cranked up the whites and the blacks to make the image a lot more contrasty. I also wonder what the leaves would look like up close in an abstract photo that might help bring out the light on the edges of the leaves. The curves of the leaves might be interesting with a much darker leaf subject matter and well lit edges. Great plant to have as an always available subject! I wonder how many images you could create from this plant. |

Nice pensive image! Good tonal range and good blacks. Nice contrast but I wonder what it would look like with a brighter white exposure on the boat. The photo really tells a story! |

That is a very unusual wildlife image. Congratulations on being nimble enough to capture it! You really got great depth of field with a f 5.6 setting. Two suggestions for something to try -- increase the contrast to get some deeper blacks and also try putting a vignette around the edges to focus the viewer on the action in the middle. This is really an excellent shot! Have you made a print? |

I like both images. The Mono image is striking with the curves in the ceiling! It is amazing what can be accomplished with a phone camera. It might be interesting to see how the image looks with the black shadow on the first step cropped out. The black spot draws my attention. Don't get hung up on what a judge says -- that is all personal opinion. This is an excellent image. |
