Kathryn, This is a crazy good shot of this dark bird. The eye of the bird is the photo for me.
I am glad you cropped off a lot of the left side of the image. I probably would have cropped more. The open space showing where the bird is flying to works. Again, my preference would be to take not as much spade as you used.
Your editing to make this really dark bird shine was very successful. Bravo. Jerry |

Vincent, wonderful tonality. Superior editing.
Thanks for sharing your workflow to get this beautiful result.
I do have a suggestion. Crop the top of the photo. There is way too much space between the top of her head and the edge of the image. This blank area really distracts from your totally beautiful rendering. This shows just how much composition is important. Jerry |

Paul, this is one powerful image that truly tells a story. I find my self not going into situations like this out of fear! I keep asking what is she looking at and why is she in this situation? This is really a strong image. You caught that decisive moment with the woman in the image.
I like your cropping even though the woman is very close to the edge. There is light between her and the wall. For sure, Black and White makes this image stronger than the original color.
Outstanding work Paul. Jerry |

Fran, your editing improves this image. To capture the details in the rain, you had to had your camera on a tripod? Grain which shows in the areas of the water seems a bit high and probably is most effected by the amount of contrast used. You had to be up in a relative high location to capture the foreground. Love the mountains and how you captured and maintained their beauty.
I think the clouds are a bit dark for me? They do show the storm. I personally would crop off more of the clouds than you did. This really neat image, made my mind go to "what would Ansel have done". Jerry |

Dave, I really love this image. A true rendering how these great birds work together to survive the winds and flight paths to make their yearly migration trips. Your conversion to B/W worked well. So great when we have options that work. Do not change a thing. Jerry |

Well, I tried to handle the sky issue and really could not improve on what you had done. This taught my something that Scott Kelby preaches in his book, "The iPhone Photography Book". When in doubt under expose a tad when shooting with the iPhone.
I am finding with the iPhone 14 Pro Max that it kind of corrects things for me. I know that is crazy, but it is the truth. Did I really need to go from the 13 Pro Max to the 14? No. But I am sure glad that I did. There are so many improvements that it scares me. I am still learning and have spent more time learning about Pro Res and other things that this camera can do. The level of the iPhone is causing the Big Camera makers to add more features that we have on our cellphones. Jerry |

I have finally found a image sizing tool that works. Sometimes I forget to use it.
Image Size Pro. Does work very well. 1. use the second from the left tool called pixel with a few marks? For Landscape Mode use 1400 and for Portrait Mode use 1020. Then use the Mail envelope at the bottom to mail it to Dave and or your files.
Jerry
PS you could edit it with Snapseed. It has a Series of tools to use and then save it as a jpeg or Heic file. The other way is Edit it in Lightroom Mobile was a DNG file. |

Again beautiful work Pam. Super image. I agree with everyone.
If you want to take out some of the haze, go to the tutorials and one tutorial has how to do just that. Remove Haze. Jerry |

What a neat experience to see your Grandson's team win.
For fun, I would play with Ambiance ins Tune Image and see if you like it. Your clouds will work a little better and it will ope up the shadows on the boys at the same time. Let me know what you thing? Jerry |

Bob, Both image are good and as others commented, each have their strong points.
I would consider cropping off some of the bottom of the image with the B/W. This will make an even stronger B/W image. You could use Tune Image and play with the Ambiance slider to bring out the clouds. Jerry |

Nice work Dick. I agree with your cropping. Here is a case where you could have taken more images of the same setting but one being darker by using either the touch for focus and then pulling down the exposure. Or Using the internal edits and using a little (-) exposure.
The white clouds are totally blown out. It can be fixed after the fact but using a very aggressive editing scheme. Send me the original and I will give it a try? Jerry |

Wow! Dave you nailed this one. Beautiful. The great light from the Golden Hour. This image made the hike and effort in the dark worth all the workout you had.
I love the soft light coming in from the left side and warms up the water also. The red leaves on the left give that final touch.
Your planning, hard work and simple editing all paid off. Bravo! Jerry |
