The birds flying through and dust from the Camels makes this an outstanding image for me. The double black/white line helps old the image together on the top. I just wonder if the Highlights could be lowered a tad on the top 1/4 of the image? Catching the birds as you did is almost perfect. Did you have to take a few out on the edges of the left and right side? They are just so perfectly balanced that you timing makes this an award winning image whether in color or B/W. Way to go! Something like this only happens in one of a million. |

Thanks David. I tried making it smaller on my iPad with Affinity for iPad and for some reason, it would not accept. I actually shot the event on three different cameras. Lumix GX85, Lumix GX7 - Infrared and the iPhone Xs Max. The Infrared really holds up in the highlights and has a little sparkle in the dark black areas. |

Added comments. All editing was done on my iPad Pro 12.9". I soon will have more controls with a new Operating System that will help with Photoshop apps and Lightroom apps. I as I look at my smaller smoke image, I think that I could have used more structure (clarity) and sharpening. It was really a hot day and I have kept the high key look in the lighter elements in the image. Any suggestions? |

I like the B/W tones and the sun's brightness on the right side. Yes the modern effect on the bottom right corner could be removed. I also like the crop on the right edge. How much to take off the left side from the original is always for me a hard decision. Your edit is fine with me but it leaves some little bits on the edge that is questionable where to edit out or leave. I have been there years ago and really was not every able to get this good of an image. |

Vincent, I agree with you about the chair.
So glad your trying different presets to get the old looking effect. It's always hard for me to settle on a preset with creative effects. Thanks for showing your results. I really like the streets of your town. Sure would be a great place to visit.
One idea that comes to me is that of darkening the edges. The only place that I like lighter edges are on old portrait images of the past. |

Paul, you again exceeded to show us you skills using luminosity masks. Yes the Romans did amazing things in their attempt to control the world around them. Love this image. |

Love the tonality Dave. I was there 20 years ago with a 4X5 and my results share did not have the Digital Darkroom advantage. I never tire of this site. You did a great job in the re-edit. |

Thanks everyone. I just had to do something with that wonderful reflection of water on the Dock. This his water of Lake Michigan is getting to be a problem in many areas. On the Dock is an old fishing shack that has been transformed into a wonderful gallery called the Hardy Gallery. They are quite concerned that if the water level rises any more they may need to find a method of raising the Gallery. I just love the reflection. I only took 2 images that evening because I was teaching 8 adults how to shoot in night conditions. 10 seconds after this shot the 2 folks left. The other image was 20 minutes earlier and I used the Moment Super Wide angle lens as a demonstration for ideas of what they can do in twilight light. |

I do understand the issues of Getting Up of the Ground!
Nice side lighting good colors of the Dragonfly. His/Her wings could have been a little wet which gave you time to get so close.
Did you use the telephoto lens to help capture the image?

Nice image Lynne. This is a tough area to get everything in. I understand. Sometimes you can not back up 2 feet to give a little space for the top of the silo. I sometimes have been able to use Expand in Snapseed and then use Touch/Retouch for the Clone tool to reconstruct the extension you make.
The stone wall really adds to the image. Great exposure and colors.

The image really speaks to me. Your use of faded glow works and kind of reminds me of old faded E-6 slide film. Glad you kept in all the power line wires etc. The owner hardly got the Truck into that position. The image really tells a story of the area where you shot the image. Jerry |

Dick, I always like B/W.
A couple of thoughts on the use of Snapseed. Here are a few ideas to think about. In the original image use Tune Image and a Minus Brightness and pull down the brightness to sue you liking? If you only want the effect on the very top of the sky, go into view edits and just brush in that part? Instructions are in my Speaker's notes. Also if you want a little detail in the shoreline areas use Tune Image Shadows and open up the shadows a tad? Just a few ideas for your possible plaything around. J |

1. Yes I have using and teaching with Distressed FX+. It had more selections for both textures, birds etc. Also it allows one to put in your own textures and or clouds etc.
2. Yes, I like your image very much Dave. The editing not only gives this image your unique stylized touch and look by added colors. I also like how you used the edge of the road to increase the strength of the One Point Perspective. Good wedding photographers do the same thing when capturing the bride coming down the isle.
