Thanks for your observation. This picture was taken in Washington state, which (like many places) tries to promote environmental sustainability. Although this picture was taken some years ago, perhaps these seals are evidence that some of that effort is having a positive effect. |

Thanks for your feedback, they do make a playful composition! Also, your thought about the tower possibly being a bit bright, will give that some consideration. |

Good suggestions on composition, appreciate your thoughts. And I like your statement about them sitting on "the throne"; I will consider that for a caption! (I am always studying the captions and titles on art pieces for inspiration for my own work.)
You are correct about my platform; this picture was taken from a boat. |

A beautiful composition made even more interesting with the happy coincidence of the pigeon!
Wise choice to frame just the upper part of the church to omit the crowds of people below. The finished image does not evidence keystoning (perspective distortion due to an upward camera angle) - nicely done. Love the contrast of warm tones in the church and the cool tones of the sky. Much rich detail in the building for the eye and mind to explore and enjoy. As you note, the bird is not in sharp focus, but I find that a plus, as it gives a sense of the pigeon's hurried flight. The bird's upward wing spread is perfect.
I am torn between whether I might prefer separation between the bird and the spire or if I like them intersecting as they are in your image (not that you had *any* control over that!!)
Overall, I love this picture! |
