Lovely shot! Nice that you get such success with your feeder. Not to brag, but this is what I get in my Florida backyard. |

Mark, was this an unusually dull day for Malta, since the sky seems kind of flat. If it wasn't, you might consider using a circular polarizer to deepen the blue of the sky. It's certainly a good deal cheaper than a 500mm lens! |

Josh, although I agree with your use of the graduated ND filter to balance the highlight and shadow areas, I would think that if you haven't done a lot of HDR, it would be a good skill to develop for landscapes. Here's a quick tutorial to get you started: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iGLIixnYn94
I like your composition, but part of me wishes you had gotten a little lower to bring out the weathered wood of the tree trrunk as a contrast to the smoothness of the reflections. |

I am attaching the originals below. The reflections are part of the exhibit theme. "Origins" is a meditation on three Creation stories: Haida, Northwest Native American, Genesis, an the Big Bang. Remember, Genesis say, the "The Spirit of God hovered over the waters". As far as the steps taken to transform the images, I can only say "stuff happened". |
