I am covered. One of my neighbors was born in the Palouse and some of his family still farms there. They will introduce us around. |

Yes, they always seem to peak in the 3rd week in July, which is when my birthday falls. So a birthday outing to McKee-Besher was a tradition for us. |

Yes, Sepia is a good way to do this, although standard gray scale would have suggested Ansel Adams more. I am planning a trip to the Palouse next May, and now I can't wait! |

When I lived in Maryland the Maryland Dept of Natyral Resources had several huge fields of sunflowers planted to attract gamebirds just outside Washibgton DC. I shot then in every way possible, including this one. By the way, tryy shooting one from the back!
I think you did a lovely job without focus stacking, since you got all the detail you needed.Yes, it would have been nice to get the edges all the way round, |

Josh, Great shot! Here's a tip for the umbrella: In photoshop, use a white brush with the opacity set to 30%, and the mode set to "Lighten", then paint over the umbrella reflection. This should give a better impression of a catchlight. |

Mark, this photo has a decidedly Eurovision feel to it. I got the impression when I visited Malta that the competition was the local equivalent of the Superbowl in American football! Excellent work, especially in waiting for the dicisive moment when the pose and the lighting were at perfection. If I have a suggestion, the image is little soft, perhaps due to the relatively wide lens opening. On my Nikon Z50, I often shoot at ISO 1600 with good results, which would let you take the opening down to f 5.6, a little closer to the lens' "sweet spot", increasing the overall sharpness. (Oh, no! Did I just use 4 commas in one sentence?) |

A good Milky Way image is on my bucket list. They're not so easy to come by. There's a certified Dark Sky area near Orlando, about 80 miles away, but in Florida it's hard to get a cloudless night. I think silhouettes are just fine, especially of such an iconic shape. |

I certainly agree that the color is bluer than it should be. I have noticed color shifts in the past in images posted to the website. It may be a mismatch in color space, since I use ProPhoto RGB for my printed images, and I think the website uses sRGB. I don't think that f stop would help very much, as this guy was practically in my lap. I don't mind having a totally sharp image, since foliage is what should be around him.
