As far as depth of field is concerned, the room was crowded, and the model had to stand with her back literally touching the background. To quote the Rolling Stones, "You can't always get what you want." |

Also about the red, I was a retoucher at a high-end color house in the early 90's, and it was considered a mortal sin to lose "shape" in a color, which you refer to as "blown-out". There are a number of way to maintain saturation without losing shape, and I used some here. |

Funny thing about he content aware fill. I have been using the new generative fill feature in Photoshop Beta for a lot of images, and it will fill the area perfectly if you leave the image substitution box blank. In this case, it will use AI to generate a fill to match the background. If you are using the image substitution box, you can type in an object name. like "boat" or "house' and it will choose a matching image from the Adobe Library to create the fill. They use AI to detect pornography or violence and will not permit the fill to happen. For example if you choose "gun" or "knife", you would be refused. In this case, there is no pornography or violence, and I am not using an external image for fill. I will open a case with Adobe Support to see if they have an answer. |

The effect works well, Josh. Unttil I read your description, I was cudgeling my brain to figure out what special method you had used - Black Light? - Polarization - to capture this unique image. I never thought that your wife had bought it this way! |

Excellent candid capture, with good exposure and anice neutral background. However, it looks like the autofocus chose the bodice to focus on, rather than the face, and especially the eyes. Some of the newer cameras have a setting that uses AI to focus on the eye. Failing that, you could increase the ISO to allow a smaller lens opening to get more depth of field. Or simply override Af to use manual focus. |
