Alan - to pick up on your comments as amplified by Jo-Ann, this photo is a sublime expression of wabi-sabi, a Japanese aesthetic that emphasizes the time worn beauty of the old and rustic. As my wife likes to tell me. "Yes, you may like nature, but what really gets you is rusty and dusty!" Here's a Wikipedia article on the subject:

Nice exposure of one of the most photographed roads in the country, shot at the right time of day. Cade's Cove turns into a traffic nightmare after 9 AM.
Here's one I did from the drive. I think your shot is in the center of mine. |

These images always fascinate me. There's a "Dark Sky" designated area close to me in Florida, which I've been meaning to go to.
I agree with David on the noise in the ground area. In addition to Topaz DeNoise, you might apply the conventional LR noise control through a graduated filter, or if you're keeping Lightroom up-to-date, you might try the new LR AI Noise reduction. |

I think that this composition is still somewhat static, with the centered greenhouse entrance lined up with the trees. I see tow solutions for this image: either go with full blown static by shootings straight down the walkway (perhaps from a low angle) or by pointing the camera so the entrance is located more to the left side of the photo, even cropping out the bushes to the left of the walkway. |

David is right. I find the image colrs to be pleasing, but the lack of focus kills it. It also seems that centering the flower results in a static image. Shooting with the flower more to the right would make this image more interesting.
I can tell you this after 65 years in photography - The quality of your photos goes up with the size of your discard pile. In the three day field trip that resulted in my contribution this month, I made 2300 exposures and selected 120 images. |
