To reply to you and David Kepley: This photo was submiited to Photo Travel competitions, which like Photojournalism and Nature, do not allow cloning. I have achieved the maximum usable acceptances in that category, so i will now submit it to Open Mono, which does allow retouching, and I will apply both of your corrections before submitting. Thanks for the advice! |

This is a lovely image, both in composition and color. Now a question for you: why was it necessary to use an ISO of 6400 and a 1/4000 second shutter speed? |

I think this photo would benefit from a darker background. You might have used a gradated mask to burn on the top rear area, and then used the burn tool on the fallen log. |

This image was really carefully exposed - you held the texture of the cloth beautifully, even in dark blacks and greens. I'm not sure about the white box located above the front dress. Since the texture of the box doesn't match any of the dresses, it may be a lighting fixture. I think that ut night be wise to crop or clone this out from the image |

It see,s to me that this image is about 12 to 2/3 stop overexposed. The kayaker's skin is dead white, and the woods and the kayak would benefit from a little more saturation. The glare on the water also seems excessive. I'm not sure that there is enough of that rock in the frame to be meaningful. Had you thought of just pointing the camera a bit more to the left? You might have gotten a sufficient portion of the rock in and moved the kayak off-center to make better use of the rule of thirds. |

My apologies for all the typos in the write-up. I submitted this just before going to bed, and it's now obvious that I should have waited so that it was the first thing I did in the morning! |
