Maybe by cropping a bit, we can make everybody (almost) happy!~ |

I can tell you that I worked for a trade shop that did retouching for National Geographic publications and that we did an overwhelming amount of color correction, but no pixel retouching (i.e., cloning) |

Dicky, You've nailed a very difficult exposure, and I love the color of the reflections. (Quick English lesson: When Americans say "You've nailed it!", it means "You've gotten it just right."
I too think that you might crop out the area on the left, just before the bridge piers. |

Don't sell your self short, Alan. I think with a little focus stacking to sharpen the detail in the fork of the branch and some slight dodging to bring out the shadow detail in the dark sections of the branch, this could be a contender! |

It looks like you have lost the shadow detail in this photo, although you have kept the highlights in range. I find that often my first move with a new image in Lightroom, before anything else, is to open the shadows. It helps nearly every time for me. |

This is an unsettling image to me. I think that you might have selected an image where your son is making eye contact while still being a kid. |

I agree with Alan's and Josh's analyses of the image. Part of photography is avoiding the attempt to say too much in one shot. You could have backed up to render the hut itself, or you could have moved closer the the opening to include a wider view of the sea, framed by the thatch. As it is, it's very hard to see the ocean. |

Excellent colors - Looks lije the image is a touch too contrasty. My recommendations would be to reduce contrast, open the shadows, increase saturation and perhaps density in the sky areas.
Not sure what this image has in common with Munch's artwork, which I beleive is located on a Norwegian bridge. This is a comparitively calm image, with no sense of a looming threat. |

Yes, you're quite correct. Cloning is absolutely forbidden. I believe the rules also refer to "excessive vignetting" Good luck on figuring that one out. |
