To get this slight amount of movement in a 1/5 second exposure is amazing. But if I didn't have a tripod, I would have traded the blurring of the blades for an overal steady image. This is why my tripod is stored in my car trunk.
I assume this is the famous Palouse region of Idaho and Washington, those rolling hills are so distinctive.
A beautiful shot, if only you had been able to steady the camera! |

I tried using the OnOne Efex Clarity filter to take the fog down a bit, hopefully without killing the mood. |

Kerstin, I shall split the difference - I like Art's cropping but with the direction you chose. If you aren't already familiar with it, you may want to Google "rule of thirds" for a discussion of this important composition concept. The spot color approach is an excellent idea. |

I'm voting for the color. Despite Kerstin's comment, I like the way the rider is brought out more in the color. I especially like the splashing mud which indicates that you caught this one at the exact right second. And of course, the color image makes it clear the he was riding a bull ;-) |

Great image, and a good peak action shot. The texture of the water is amazing. |

This is a strong image. I had wondered when you had first sent it in whether you had dropped the background to dead black, since there is a strong discontinuity between the background tone and the hair color, but it may just be an artifact of the lighting compensation for the fluorescents. |

I tend to lean toward my original interpretation here, with the exception of the added white space.
As Gabrielle said, either way they move, they're moving, And I would tend to lean toward the way it actually was.
As far as the extra snow detail, I actually did a version like this, but I decided that I liked the graphic effect of the clean white snow better. |

You nailed it, Gary!. I think I may go back and dodge the snow - I'm not going to crop because I like the way the snowdrift frames the bottom of the photo/ And the artifacts were probably caused by my doing a curve correction in PS after I finished the Nik conversion. That might have affected each layer slightly differently, accounting for the curve shift. Thanks! |

Great textures and good patterns here, Palli, and you made the most of it. I like Gary's treatment as well, but you can easily get a similar effect if you are already in Silver Efex Pro by applying a vignette. |

IR is probably a good choice for a 40's shot as it somewhat mimics the old Orthochromatic films used back then. I might have worked with the model a bit to get a more open, spontaneous expression, and add a vignette to darken the edges. But a great theme, and a great shot, as well. |

A lovely photo journalistic shot. I think Palli's vertical correction is the way to go. After the time I spent in China in the '80s, I always look for the police "minder" in street scenes like this one. My bet is the woman on the second floor with the closed shutters. She can look out without being seen herself. |
