I like your image, Peter. But the road presents a problem to me. It takes your eye into the picture, but then it pulls it out almost immediately as if veers off to the right. Compare this to the way that the curve of the pier in Kerstin's photo this month draws your eye into the composition and holds it there. I think you might try cropping some of the bottom part of the road to eliminate the curving part. |

One of the joys in commenting late is that everyone else has done the work for you! I think I like Gerhard's interpretation the best. As far as horses not being exotic, these horses are. Look at the facial shape of the far horse, it resembles the Andalusian horse in Picasso's famous Guernica mural, and is an echo that our Western wild horses date back to Spanish mounts left by the Conquisdadors. |

Very lovely formal curve to your composition. I would lower the viewpoint slightly, allowing less sky and more foreground. |

What a great stretch! Your bird really stuck his neck out to help you score a great image. |

Gerhard, yet again a lovely image with great action. I'm wondering about the green color on the bill and legs. It almost looks like paint. Is this an algae bloom in the water? |

Nicely balance image, and good color as well. |

Palli,
Welcome to the group. I love the texture of these trees, and as Melanie has said, you found the best way to display this magnificent example. |

Like Melanie, I'm a little envious of this shot. But somehow the perspective seems 'off'. At first I thought it was the clothesline slanting uphill, but that can be easily explained by the poles being uphill of the barn. was perhaps a wide-angle lens used, and the lens pointed up slightly?
I also concur with Palli about the line effect on the clouds. It is worth noting that there is no trace of these lines in the original, so they are artifacts introduced in post processing.
I think the common tendency (well common to me, actually.) is to want all the drama we can get from IR by cranking contrast and clarity as far as they can go. In this case, the image has suffered from some over-sharpening, which is very visible in the cloud edges and the lathing lattices on the barn. The edges of the clouds just over the roofline are so 'crisped' that I first thought I was looking at tree leaves.
This sky has plenty of inherent drama, so you can feel comfortable backing some of the sliders down a bit. |

A lovely image, Melanie. But there is something about the unearthly glow that surrounds the two women that makes me think a bright blue British Police phone box from the 1960's is about to materialize between them! (Sorry for the 'Dr. Who' reference) Perhaps one was a little enthusiastic with one's dodging tool? |

A very good image overall, and it's nice to see you trying different approaches to IR. However, I'm not sure that the "mackerel sky" you chose matches the desert nature of you scenery. Also the bench you picked as your focal point has a rather cluttered surrounding. I think I might have moved to the left, somewhat closer to the bridge, and made the bridge my focal point. But as you might say, "Chacun son gout!" |
