Hi Tom, thank you for the feedback. I have been mulling between the landscape or portrait crop and personally I still lean towards the landscape image (after the sky fix) as well. I think the vertical crop would have worked better as a simple reflection shot if, as you had indicated, the dirt bank wasn't there. Appreciate the rest of the comments. |

Hi Nigel, this is a nice scene for making a photo. The curvature of the sidewalk naturally leads the eye towards the boats. The reflection in the water adds a nice element. The cafe with people and the smoke coming out of the chimney adds intrigue to what those folks are experiencing. The picture seems really soft and compressed, but it might be due to compression to get it under 1Mb. |

Hi Mike, the moment of the mother bird flying home to tend to her babies is beautifully captured in this photo. I see that this is a square crop, which I feel that the picture might be more impactful if it was horizontal, giving more room to the right wing tip of the mother bird and would shift the bird nest to the left third. Again, a well captured moment with a nice narrative. |

Thank you John. I agree that the vertical crop seems to work best. |

Hi Spring, this is a lovely photo. The subtle fall colors breaks up the green in the foliage. I think part of the saturation and strong highlights might have also been due to the bright mid-day light. As Michele pointed out that a polarizing filter might help to cut down on some of the highlights. I think the 1/5 sec shutter speed gives the waterfall a nice silky texture, but if you expose it even longer (a couple of seconds), it will smooth out the water in the foreground. To do in the mid-day sun will require a ND-filter (and a tripod). Very nice composition overall. |

Hi Michele, I love long exposure photos and you have beautifully captured it here. While the monochrome version gives it a moodier feel, I prefer the color image. The colors are not distracting and in fact, they are an integral part of the scene. I think you did a great job in post processing to bring out the color tone. In comparing your original version and the revised cropped version, I think the revised version makes the subject even more prominent and gets rid of some of the negative space. Both versions are really good, so I'm just splitting hairs. |

Hi Tom, this is a really nice image of a rustic scenery. My comments are similar to the others. I think the main subject in the image is the pick up truck next to the water wheel and they should be more prominently position. I think your revised image achieves that, but I agree with Michele on keeping the same aspect ratio. Thanks! |

Hi Michele, thank you for the comments. I agree that the cottage as a subject is being distracted by the brown foreground. It would have made for a cleaner composition of the cottage and its reflection without it and some of the greenery covering the cottage. |

Hi Nigel, thank you for the critique. I agree with all the points that you have raised. I brought the image into Lightroom and was able to reduce the cyan sky to match the darker blue of the water. I will use a wider lens next time to avoid cutting off the top of the spire and the reflection and give the subject more room. I also noted that the composition is being concentrated towards the middle. Thanks! |

A beautiful golden hour shot of the canyon from Cape Royal. The clouds from the thunderstorm adds a sense of drama in conjunction with the glow of the light. The rock formation as a subject is well composed in the image. |

Hi Mike, thank you for the comment and the suggestion. I will go back to the image and see if I can balance out the hue and the brightness between the sky and the water. Much appreciated. |
