David, have been traveling so a late review. I agree that this pic is 'light and airy' also. Beautiful. At first, I thought it might have been taken with a lightpad! I also love the soft detail on the back of the flower. I would try a different composition, with less of the stem and more of the sky on the sides and see what you think. It might frame the flower better. |

Barbara, apology for the late review. Very nice pic with good detail in the petals. A suggestion might be to see how it looks if you decrease the highlights in the outer petals on the bottom half of the flower and increased the exposure of the very center of the rose, to draw attention to that part of the flower and highlight its beautiful detail. I like the bud shooting off at the top. |

Maria, great image. I like the lighting which highlights the center of the flower, and the bokeh. I agree it could have been cropped a bit more from sides and bottom. I concur with David in that with a 45MP sensor and this relatively minor crop, you will have nothing to worry about. I have gotten away with more extensive cropping using a 24MP R6II shooting birds. |

I love this photo. The flower looks perfect, the focus is sharp, and I like the lighting and shadows. The pink color on the end of the leaves just completes the picture. It is one that would look great as a print. |

Maria, I am trying to add some more 'painterly' backgrounds to some of my photos these days. To me, there is a fine line between pics where everything is tack sharp and those which have too much of that 'dreamy' out of focus look (although that is a matter of personal taste), so I am experimenting. (However, I do love sharp macro flower shots the best.) Thanks for the comments. |

Dick, thanks for the comments. I used a tripod in this case and used manual focus. The wind was not blowing so I could get away with it. I tried to focus on the center of the flower, and took shots at different apertures, including some which were focus stacked, but in the end I liked the 'artistic' look of this shot, with some of the petals out of focus. |

Thanks David. I appreciate your comments. Below is the info that didn't make it into the submission. It is titled 'Dahlia'.
________
For this month I decided to shoot some flowers in planters on my deck. This Dahlia caught my eye and I thought it would be more interesting shot from an angle as opposed to straight on. Takennear the end of daylight. I took several at higher f stops to increase sharpness but, in the end, I liked the slightly blurred edges of the petals - for a more 'artistic' look??? |
