Thank you everyone! I appreciate your warm welcomes and your feedback. I'm very much looking forward to interacting with all of you as I aim to improve my skills.
Adrian - good idea - I'll see what I can manage with those shadows. :) |

Thank you Richard - you're right, and I should have known better. In the field I was shooting tight on several of the cranes, so I was going for a smaller f-stop. These two flew overhead while I was shooting tight and I didn't even think to change my f-stop to account for the necessary depth. Someday I'll get that into my muscle memory. haha |

Maria - I like the story you and your image tell, and especially the size of that worm in contrast to the robin! My goodness! The background of the shot looks a little grainy - almost like heat distortion - and that's hard to avoid. It could also be because of the tight crop, or maybe oversharpening(?) - we all encounter that from time to time. If you have software like Topaz, maybe it could help with this. Otherwise, I like the photo and how the robin displays its prize. China? Wow! Nice! |

Richard - this is a great shot - very compelling in telling the story and creating the tension of the moment. My only suggestion would be to straighten the horizon - it's something I have trouble with myself, so it's something I'll notice right away on someone else's photo. You got the eyes super sharp - a huge plus IMHO. :) |

Maria - absolutely stunning image! Perfect in every way. I love what you did in post (I do this often - sometimes also softening the background a bit more if needed). This looks contest-worthy to me. Great job! |

Hi Bruce - I'm new here. This is a fantastic shot! Tack sharp and a great moment in this bird's life. My only suggestion would be to perhaps remove the two darkish dots just above the bird's head so they don't distract from the rest of the image. I love the colors - wonderful! |
