30 Aug 25 Reply Thanks Jody for liking my experiment! Aug 22nd
30 Aug 25 Comment Much better! Aug 22nd
30 Aug 25 Reply Hard to pick a favorite, but Hawaii Island is very special! Aug 18th
30 Aug 25 Comment Nice candid capture, Leonid! The monochrome works well for me. It looks like you might have used some selective focus in post, which is good. The garbage can and bike tire behind the player on the left are distracting to me. Maybe you could try the remove tool? Or more blur? Aug 17th
30 Aug 25 Reply It's spelled Venice. Aug 17th
30 Aug 25 Comment Nice one, Jody! You caught a nice pose in good light. I think a more conventional crop, mostly from the left side, would be better. Aug 17th
30 Aug 25 Comment Nice one, Phu! Looks like you did a LOT of post-processing on this one. I like MW images with a little bit of clouds, but only a little. I agree with Dorinda that maybe they are a little distracting here. Aug 17th
30 Aug 25 Comment Thanks everyone for your comments! Aug 17th
30 Aug 25 Comment I think you have an interesting idea here, Walter. I like how you captured her reflection in the mirror. I'd also think it would be better if cropped in a little on both sides. The tree and the drain on the right are distracting to me. Aug 17th
30 Aug 25 Comment That's a very nice cover shot, well done Mark! If you were to make a print for the couple you could easily remove the offending tree, darken the sky, and clean up the stray wires as the other commenters mentioned. Aug 17th
30 Aug 25 Reply I'm 100% with you on this Mark -- get it right in the camera. Aug 17th
30 Aug 25 Comment I know that exact spot! That is the Royal Outrigger Resort with its distinctive twin towers in Kailua-Kona. I agree that the bike competes with the people on the rocky shore. What is the main subject. I wish I could see more of the tree trunks. Also it is interesting to me that you chose what appears to be a cloudy day, as it is usually sunny there, at least in the mornings. Aug 17th

85 Aug 25 Reply Thank you Mike. I'm working on that! Aug 24th
85 Aug 25 Reply I have a tutorial I purchased from Sean that discusses this technique. You might find it on his YouTube channel. Aug 22nd
85 Aug 25 Comment Thanks everyone for your comments. Last month's submission was better. I hope to return to this location soon! Aug 17th
85 Aug 25 Comment I like the sky and the wind turbines, but the foreground is just kinda "blah" for me. I agree with Richard and would have gone for just the wind turbines and the sky here. Aug 17th
85 Aug 25 Comment Mike, this is a great subject and I like this one a lot. The guy in the right bottom is fine, but the people in the background and the buildings in the background are distracting. The harsh mid-day light doesn't work for me.I think this would so cool to shoot early or late in the day when the light is more dramatic and there are fewer people. Maybe a little lower to the ground? Aug 17th
85 Aug 25 Comment Great subject in nice light, Richard! I have no comment on the leveling issue. :-) What I'd suggest is closer to the main subject, lower, and more diagonal. I would not be so concerned about capturing the entire bridge. Viewing straight on and from above is less impactful to me. Fall colors and a beautiful young woman in a red jacket would take this to another level! Aug 17th
85 Aug 25 Comment Very nice image Pete! It's a beautiful sky, but the main subject is the canyon. Thus, I would crop out more sky and be tempted to crop in closer overall. Did you shoot any images closer to the canyon? Also, the colors look a bit oversaturated to me. Aug 17th
85 Aug 25 Comment Nice one, Lisa! I like the abstract comp. You enhanced the colors and white balance very well. I agree with the above commenters that crop is little too tight on the right. I would also be tempted to rotate the image a bit counterclockwise. Now as Peter suggests, you need to find a child with a red jacket to pose for you! :-) Aug 17th
85 Aug 25 Comment Nice image just the way it is. The haze from the fires works well to make the background less prominent. Aug 17th
85 Aug 25 Comment I like this one a lot, Lou! The composition is perfect. The color contrast between the foreground and sky is really nice. The clouds have a lot of drama to complement the butte. The transition between the foreground and sky looks a little artificial. Dark edges on the land, and white edges on the sky. Looks like you made selections on both, and that generated artifacts. If you do the selections in PS, you have option to feather the edges, which might work here. You could also try using the blur tool in PS along the edge. There is also a technique that Sean Bagshaw teaches, which is to use the clone stamp along the border with the blend mode set to darken or light and clone along the borders. Aug 17th
85 Aug 25 Reply Thanks for you critique, Pete! My submission last month had a much better comp. Honestly I submitted this one because Lisa made a comment on the previous one about the top of the lighthouse intersecting with the land in the background. But I don't like it that much for all of the reasons you point out.

My Mavic 3 Classic has only the 24mm focal length equivalent camera, and getting closer to the lighthouse is problematic with the wide angle as I would then be flying over the rocks, which are shorebird nesting areas and off limits.

85 Aug 25 Reply Thanks for the critique, Drema. I agree with all of your points. The sky was featureless and so I minimized it. I have played with the sky replacement tool in PS, but have not tried it on this image. Aug 11th
