21 May 25 Comment Good job, Tom. The vibrant pose of this pair of spoonbills stands out beautifully with excellent sharpness and color. The Nikon 200-500mm f/5.6E ED VR lens delivers great image quality. However, the aperture of f/6.3 didn't render strong bokeh; using a lens with a wider aperture (e.g., f/4 or lower) could have helped isolate the birds from the somewhat busy background. Additionally, a bit more space on both sides of the frame would have improved the overall composition and balance. May 19th

37 May 25 Comment Peter, beautiful capture. The road serves as a perfect leading line, drawing the viewer's eye straight to the dramatic peaks of Mount Fitz Roy. The beams of light breaking through the clouds are visually striking-almost divine-and add depth and atmosphere to the scene.

The centered perspective and balanced symmetry work beautifully, powerfully conveying the vastness and grandeur of Patagonia.

Your subtle post-processing adjustments were effective, boosting contrast and lifting shadows, preserved a natural look while enhancing the overall visual impact.

Suggestion (minor):
Consider adding a touch of vibrance to enhance the earthy foreground tones slightly, just enough to add warmth without oversaturating the sky.

37 May 25 Comment Great capture, Kathy. A compelling and poignant image. The weathered prison walls and peeling paint speak volumes about the passage of time and decay, yet the vibrant Lone Star mural remains defiantly bold-symbolic of enduring pride amidst deterioration. It stands in stark contrast to the muted tones of the concrete, evoking themes of defiance, endurance, and forgotten patriotism.

The wide-angle perspective at 21mm enhances depth, drawing the eye down the corridor while anchoring attention with the bold mural in the foreground. Despite the challenging lighting, your high ISO retained strong detail with minimal noise, and Lightroom adjustments clearly helped preserve dynamic range. Excellent hand-held work at 1/80 sec-steady and sharp. This image tells a layered story of place, history, and resilience. Well done!

37 May 25 Comment Great job, Bob. An excellent capture of the Aarti ceremony-this image powerfully conveys the spiritual energy and atmosphere of the moment. The warm tones, careful lighting, and rising smoke create a dramatic and immersive effect. Your post-processing choices, particularly enhancing texture and clarity while reducing contrast in the smoke, were spot-on and helped preserve the ethereal quality. The use of dodge and burn tools effectively emphasizes the priest's expression and action without overprocessing. The close framing here brings intimacy and focus. A compelling and evocative photo. 37 May 25 Reply Thank you so much for your thoughtful feedback. I truly enjoy capturing the color, movement, and energy of Sri Lankan tradition. The subtle coloration at the top of the photo was a deliberate choice to help guide the viewer's eye, so I'm glad you noticed it. I really appreciate your kind words and support! May 21st
37 May 25 Reply Thank you for the kind and detailed feedback. I'm glad the energy and mood of the performance came through. I agree-while there's some motion blur, especially on the left, I felt it added to the sense of movement and rhythm on stage. Regarding Tom's comment, I appreciate the note on shutter speed. I chose a medium speed to balance the contrasting motions of the dancers, and I'm glad it still conveyed the essence of the performance effectively. Thanks again for the encouraging words! May 21st
37 May 25 Comment Great capture, Joseph. The long exposure masterfully captures the water's fluid motion against static rock formations, creating an ethereal contrast. Golden hour lighting bathes the scene in warm amber tones while preserving cool blue midtones. The low perspective and perfect horizon placement create depth, while the balanced composition draws viewers from the foreground textures toward the distant setting sun.

Joseph, I think if you had used a graduated ND filter, the exposure between the sky and the water could have been even more balanced.

37 May 25 Comment Good job, Howard. Despite the challenging low light-evident from the high ISO 25,600-you've preserved detail well using DXO PureRAW and Lightroom. The vibrant, dynamic pose of the green heron stands out beautifully with sharp detail and color. The 600mm f/6.3 PF VR S lens also delivers excellent image quality. However, the aperture of f/6.3 didn't render strong bokeh; using a lens with a wider aperture (e.g., f/4 or lower) could have isolated the bird more effectively.

Additionally, cropping about an inch from the bottom would enhance the composition and draw more focus to the subject.

37 May 25 Reply One of the two dancers on the left jumps quickly, while the other spins with rapid body rotations. The rest dance at a slower pace. To depict both motion styles, I used a medium shutter speed of 1/80. This allowed me to capture contrasting performances in one frame.

Thank you Tom. I really appreciate your kind words and encouragement.
