Thank you for telling me to remove the second branch. It turned out to be a simple fix in Lightroom, but until you said it, I hadn't even looked at the photo with the thought about distractions. It really improved the image and I will have a more critical eye on other images in the future. |

Thank you for the advice. I don't know how to use photoshop but will try to do it in Lightroom. |

Beautiful capture of the moment. The vertical crop and the position of the mother above the chicks and leaning towards them really draws your eye in. What a warm and dynamic image. Very nice. I am very curious as to how you meter a shot like this, when the birds have bright white feathers and you have dark foliage? I have tried spot metering and multi-metering with mixed results. This one is perfectly exposed. |

Smart choice of aperture. I automatically choose the widest aperture I can for wildlife, and that wouldn't have gotten both of these synchronized stilts in focus. Wonderful timing of the shot. Beautiful. |

I have heard about chicks riding on the backs of swans and mergansers, but have never seen it. Congratulations on a beautiful close-up. There must have been a lot of light when you took this shot. Loons I have seen come out much darker, but I like the green highlights. I might darken the background a smidge, but that is just personal preference. |

I find it very difficult to get the catchlight in the eyes of these very small birds. Detail is spot on and I like the dynamic of the bird perched in the diagonal with its feathers fluffed out. The bottom right corner is a little distracting but I am not sure how I would change it. |

I can't believe you waited to edit this one. What an amazing shot. Sharp, crisp, colors are lovely and perfect timing. Wow. |
