I am new to critiquing photos, and a lesson I learned at a workshop Thursday was to first consider the photographer's vision. Peter's comment makes that point. To me, the water is the story, and I think it is well done. |

The choice to take this photo at eye level with the jay is very captivating, especially with the disappearing edge of the reflection. Just beautiful. |

Thank you for all of your comments. They are very helpful. The dark patch in the top corner is a log. Since I am not going to submit this in any competition, I probably won't return to it to try to make further edits. Everyone's comments confirmed my suspicion that when I focus on the bird, I sometimes forget to also take a look at the background. |
