The bird was at quite a distance from me and I got about 10 shots. It was handheld. I agree with both comments about the busyness of the background. Thank you for your suggestions. f9 is wide open with my lens and extender. I hesitated to go to f11 because I would have to up the ISO to 3200. But I think I could still have gotten this shot at 1/2000th, given the distance of the bird from me. |

Nice portrait. The eye is sharp and body colors are well exposed. Since I haven't figured out how to play around with the images yet, I hesitate to offer suggestions as to how I might edit it. |

I have a few spoonbill shots too, but have never gotten the face, eye and texture of the bill like this. Great image. |
