Lovely image, Bob. The color, composition and lighting are all appealing in this shot. Additionally, the image captures the imagination, whether one actually knows what is happening in the ceremony or not. The image evokes a sense of mystery to me. The reflections in his hair, costume and the bell are all nice details that add to the complexity & appeal of the image. The smoke almost takes on a life of its own. Beautiful image, great editing. |

Nice sharp close-up of the heron, Howard. As Yamuni said, great work in low light. Attractive color contrast between the bird and the background. Perhaps shallower depth of field might have blurred the lines in the grass so that one's eye could better settle on the bird. |

Joseph, this sunset on the water is quite spectacular. I'm not sure what is happening in the water on the bottom left/middle of the image. Whatever it is….it's quite beautiful. It creates interest, adds texture, and makes the composition of the image quite arresting. The warm colors of the sunset contrast nicely with the color of the water. I am trying to see if that is a ship/drilling rig? in the distance on the left horizon…I also like the effect of fog on the water. |

Peter, the combination of the leading lines of the road and the rays of sunshine draw one's eye to the grandeur of this mountain range. What a sight! I like it that you didn't oversaturate the image with too much color, as we sometimes see. The contrast of the dark colors in the foreground and the snow higher up accents the striking form of these particular mountains. Nicely done. |

Thank you Tom. Yes, so true….if only the walls could talk. It was quite an eerie feeling to walk around that empty prison. Capturing that feeling was part of the challenge. |

Yamuni, your Sri Lankan Tradition image immediately caught my eye. It has color, motion and excitement. I especially like the vignetting effect around the outer perimeter of the image. It draws the eye to the dancers. The framing of the dancers is also appealing. The contrast of the blue background and bright colors is also effective. Beautiful! |
