Thanks Steve. I sincerely appreciate your input. I struggled with placement of the shadow. This was the first time I tried placing a drop shadow, and I think my mistake was dropping it from the front of the car, and not from the side - given the predominant light source. I tried to rotate the shadow off to the side from the front, but could not get that to work. So much for me to learn! |

Hey Frans - your agreement with me about an image is a first in my brief history with Group 34. Jan's image is really - or should i say surreally(?) - remarkable. |

Hi Steve. Very original. I am drawn more to the black / white image - the "surreal" side. I also like the inline breaks in the shadow. |

Frans - all your suggestions are very helpful. Thank you so much! The reflections on the hood and darkening of the front part of the car should be easy for me. If I have trouble burning the shadow to meet the tires I might get back to you for advice. (I had been aware of the gap between tires and road - but was not sure how to remedy that artfully.) |

A very alluring image. The original landscape looks magical right out of the box. You chose the perfect photograph for an impressionism filter. The animals and moon give the picture a fairy tale feeling. Was the moon originally edited? It almost looks like a view into a microscope.

Wow! This is a gorgeous composition! The sharpness of the images makes each individual jump out at the viewer, and your selection of which subject goes where in the final composition is perfect - I also love the ominous clouds in the background to accentuate the warrior theme. The saturation of the top warrior's headdress contrasts so well against his dark skin - and I like the way you make the image jump by extending the bow/arrow, the spear, and the top feather of the headdress outside the pale gold bounding frame.

Such a striking image to come from a most mundane source! You put MirrorLab to good use. I like the sense of relative spaciousness at the bottom progressing to claustrophobia as one's eye moves towards the top of the image. I also like the "keyhole" of blue space between the buildings as well as the orange and blue geometric shapes to the sides of the "keyhole." |

While I can't make a more technical comment about layering due to my inexperience with different modes of layering and other tools in Photoshop (I will be working on this!) I do like the leaf - combining its structure with the interesting overlay of the wood. I would have liked to have seen how the background might have worked in different colors - in particular the blues which seemed inconsistent with the earthiness of the leaf. |

Brilliant composition! I am in awe of how so many pieces were put together seamlessly! If there were anything at all I might suggest, it would be to eliminate the canvass texture within the frame - to suggest alternate realities between inside and outside the frame.
