Jessica, I was on the race couese at one of the mards which put me with clouse to the sailers but not in their immediate raceing path and the shutter speed was 1/1000 th of a sec at f13. 90% of the time I am on manual and that is the moce I was in during this race. Thanks for asking . |

The imagination is a great tool and you have pulled an interesting picture from you original. Good out of focus background and no distractions to take away from the main subject. Increasing the sharpness of the top would be a suggestion. |

The structure of the photo keeps the eye inside the hall.However, the hall lacks some punch. The blue sky would respond to a little dehazing bo deepen the blue and off set the clouds. Try wosrking with the Hue, Saturation and Luminance sliders to bring our the colors and detail in the walls. Adding some contraset to the floor should help it stand out. The trees in the windows at the far end could use a little more green. I use Lightroom and like the assortment of sliders and adjustment brushes.
Good composition, detail and sharpness to round out a very good photo. |

Great insights and critiques on a street scene. The vibrant colors, sharp detail, intensity of the wormen talking and composition makes for good impact. Judy's crop is cleans up some distractions for a better picture. |

Good impact with a strong subject, bold colors and good sharp
detail. The background is without distraction but there is some hints of a halo on the arm and pants but is not distracting. Cropping as Judy suggested removed distractionl and strengthens the photo. Nicely done and hang it on the wall. |

Your versioon of mother natures graceful and beautiful flower mixed in with imagination and software is lovely to say the lease. The colors along with the shape of the swirl keep the eye on the center of the flower where it belong. There is somes minor distraction from the out of focus petals in the botttom right corner. Lovely presentation. |

The foursome each have a job when rounding the mark. The spinnaker was dropped and stowed down below before rounding, full attention is on setting the course, keeping wind in the sail and trying to stay out of dirty air from the starboard boats which is to the right of the boat in question.
All 4 crew have jobs that require their attention driving, look out for traffic, call tactics and keeping weight on tthe high side.
Your questions are good on the setting of the sail but I can't tell you what the Skipper was doing when I snapped the photo but do know he had 3 boats in close proximity on his starboard side.
