This a a very dramatic image, Dean, and definitely called for a B&W version. Good images age well!
The lines of the glacier are well placed to lead the eye into the beautiful background of mist, clouds, and mountains. |

It looks like you opened up the shadows a bit which helped. The crop is determined by what you want to convey or emphasize....the peaks or the rainbow? As Dean suggested, maybe play a bit with a wider crop to get the paeak on the right. It is a lovely image-happy belated birthday!! |

I took a double take when I saw this image as I have one nearly identical. I took it as minimalism image (no hills-all beach), turned it into B&W, and used similar post processing steps. I might suggest that your cropping could be less on the left to give a make it more about the space and less about the boy who (like my subject) isn't doing much of interest. Use him merely as a focal point in the distance. Like Dean, I do appreciate the subtle god rays in the sky. They might not be a visible with a different crop, though. Play around with the cropto see what impression you want to make. Nice image! |
