Yes,Rita, the revised version is better and looks natural. Would you be comfortable working on the right side a little more, or have you discovered there are no details in the area to the right of the little braided loop of hair? I also would try a little more spot work on the left side. The spot where backlit hair adjoins the beard could benefit from slight toning down, if possible. And in the middle of the hair, there's a spot with no details yet, but maybe there are none there. |

Rita,
You are suggesting that I crop down even a little more from the top than I did?
I understand your idea about lightening the bull and rider to draw attention. I am concerned, however, that since I already have lightened it a lot, doing so even more might look artificial. |

Dean,
This is a second painterly photo in this month's collection, where the layers of old brushed paint literally produce the illusion, not a heat mirage.I do not see the matador lettering in the original, but perhaps you had two similar originals and uploaded an alternate one.
The rust hole is a crucial element that creates the tip of a long, narrow triangle whose other two anchors are the head light and the Ford logo. It also interacts with the three black vent lines extending from the Ford logo. Together with the texture provided by the paint layers and rust, the eye has a lot to explore here. |

Anne,
For various reasons and circumstances, we cannot always carry through on what we otherwise would do. It is important to know what you would've done and bear it in mind for future trips when your back better.
I am struck by the way the tree dwarfs the pieces of wooden furniture that share the same tones as the live tree. The range of blues in the sky add interest to that feature in spite of the lack of clouds that can enhance skies so much. The range of shades of green is pleasing. |

Karen,
It is hard to tell that this is a photo and not a painting, so it is clear what drew your eye to the scene. The cool tones seem a little incongruous with the shimmering heat waves and yet that is what you managed to capture, unless you adjusted the tone after the fact. The photo is a good reminder that softness can be as effective as sharpness in some contexts. |

Rita,
I also remember seeing this face before. The vivid colors and facial expression are well captured. The blurred background accentuates the main subject. Good luck in trying to bring out a little detail in the backlit hair. It will require patience and probably multiple tries but is well worth the effort. |
