60 Jul 25 Comment This is an incredible capture. The pollen ball near the tail, the bee nosing into the flower, and the sharpness in detail, down to the individual rains of pollen on the bee's body are all phenomenal. I would be tempted to crop in even closer so the flower fills the background, if possible, which might require a little rotating of the angle. You probably will be left with a tiny bit of the background here and there in the end, but I would like to see as much of the bee and its glorious details as possible. Jul 14th
60 Jul 25 Comment Rita,
The photo has some nice diagonals in it in both directions, and the reflections enhance the image. Capturing the dripping water from the mouth of the first trumpeter was great.
Your instinct to crop in is good; I would suggest trimming even more from the top, to eliminate the shrubbery, and to clone out or use AI to eliminate the few remaining branches. You can probably even take a tad off the bottom as well. Then, I would mask the areas of algae that have strong highlights and tone them down so the eye focuses in on the birds and their reflections, which seems to be your intended subject.

60 Jul 25 Comment Ann,

In both of your images, the eye is drawn away from the colt and mother to the strip of light along the top. So you need to decide what the subject is and simplify. I can understand that you like the spit of land being reflected in the water, but it is not a landscape shot really. The horses seem to be the subject. Dean has vignetted his crop, which helps with the bright light as well. You did not tell us what you might have done in editing. Playing with sliders and the tone curve could make the horses stand out more. Lightening the mare's face with a mask is a good possibility, and using a mask brush to tone down her highlighted back, if the pixels can be recovered, should be tried. Otherwise, you would need to try a healing bruch or stamp brush. If all else fails, you might try AI to replace that area, depending on whether you plan to enter it in competition or not. You have caught a tender, appealing moment.

60 Jul 25 Comment Erin,

Your decision to highlight the working hands as a distinct image on its own has been successful. I think the choice of B&W has enhanced the final product. The overall tonality seems a little dark to me, which might just be differences in screen calibrations. Do you happen to use anything like NIK silver Effex, which has over 60 presets? I find that it offers me some solutions that I have not been able to achieve myself. You might be able to have the hands highlighted in a subtle way even more, which you could also achieve with some masking. The texture seems fine; there is no grain or noise apparent.
