Pete - great suggestions to bring out the surface of the ice and the stones as well as blurring the sky and emphasize a directional light source.. I will definitely edit to achieve similar results.
Thank you very much

Pete - I followed the exchange you have with Emil and find it interesting that often the best way to arrive at a final image is to experiment and try different approaches and techniques.
I liked the original version and played with contrast a bit - I also turned it into a square crop and left more space on the right side.
Cheers

Emil - just like you, I am fascinated by the amount of meticulous work that went into building such beautiful church interiors. I just love the decorations used in Byzantine churches often using expensive materials in the tiles.
Cheers

Adrian - I like both pictures for different reasons.
The original reflects the title more accurately " Football is back in town " . You can see the football image on the pavement and the main character is looking at it and there is a town in the background.
The B&W version appears less about football and about the main character looking at something/someone mysterious in the distance - The shadow of the bicycle introduces a second mystery. The impact this had on me was to try to interpret the image. A different title would help my interpretation.
It is interesting that we have to give a title to images submitted for competitions or displays and that viewers are guided by the title.
Cheers

Chris - definitely Chinatown alleys look more interesting at night. You chose the right subject.
I cropped a good part of the pavement in the foreground to focus more on the lighted part of the scene and then with a radial gradient in the middle darkened your scene even further. |
