Linda, this is a nice image of a single red flower in a sea of white, kind of a portrait of it. I think this photo goes nicely with the overall image of the field of flowers and windmill. The overall photo shows the context and the single photo highlights the individuality of the red flower. I can see these two images would fit well in a diptych. Very nice.
I am sorry that you will be leaving this group, you always have such expressive commentary on photos of the group members which I appreciate. Enjoy your time in the new group and I will continue to check out the photos you submit there. |

Jim, I think you have cropped out the best part of the overall image quite well. I like the composition of the photo and think the grass in the foreground frame the geese nicely. I did not notice the tree in the upper left hand corner initially, but now I cannot unsee it. My suggestion for it would be to darken the tree slightly with a dodge/burn tool and maybe darken the vignette a little bit.
I like the more muted colors of this image which, to me, help create a peaceful scene. Well done. |

Sabine, what a beautiful scene you found! I really like the flowers in the foreground and the lake and mountains in the distance. What little I have seen of Italy, it has made me want to see more of it. This photo confirms that.
My initial thought of the image, though, was that the flowers were added to the photo of the lake and mountains. Reading your post and looking at the original, I see that is not the case. As others have suggested, I think you may have over sharpened, or over processed, the foreground a bit too much. My suggestion would be to back off on that a little for a more natural contrast between the foreground and background. Regardless, it is a very nice image. |

Yvonne, I like the way you have framed the feather with the rocks in the lake. The addition of the highlights from the reflected sky add interest and depth to the image that I like. It is a peaceful scene. I prefer the color version over the black and white, I think the color of the sky adds to the image. It may be also that in the b&w version, I would like to see the feather a little brighter to help it stand out more. Either way, it is nice image and well captured.
I am curious as to the film simulations you started with and what you changed it to. I have also used the Fuji Raw Studio on some of my images. I have also changed the film simulation with Lightroom using the color profile tool (or whatever it is called, I don't have the program on this computer...). |
