9 Oct 25 Comment You have shown that it is important to also look up when out with a camera. Too often scenes like this are missed when only looking at eye level. The blue light from the sky reflecting off the buildings with their different shapes and textures adds contrast to the image. I like this perspective, especially because it is not often seen. Nice shot. Oct 19th
9 Oct 25 Reply Yvonne, I appreciate your reply. Flipping the image is an artistic choice that works for this image. Doing things like that with my images never occurs to me and when I see things like that with places I am familiar with it is kinda odd to me and jumps out. This is not to imply there is something wrong with this creative decision, just it can be challenging for my feeble brain. Your explanation, and comments from the others, helps me appreciate your decision with this image. Oct 18th
9 Oct 25 Comment Sylvia, I like the composition of this image. You did a good job raising the shadows from the original color photo that gives it a good balance. The color image looks a bit dark to me. I agree with the others with including a burnt out candle with the smoke lingering in the image. Good job with this. Oct 18th
9 Oct 25 Comment Jim, you did a great job with this rose. I like the way you brought down the highlights of the background, removing distracting elements and enhanced the flower, leaving the details of the petals very clear. Very well done. Oct 18th
9 Oct 25 Comment What a peaceful scene! I think you have captured it well. I like the vibrant colors and the clouds in the sky really add to the image. It looks like this was taken late in the day, the warm light from the sun brightens this image nicely. Very nice image. Oct 14th
9 Oct 25 Comment It is easy to see why you were overwhelmed by this room. There is a lot going on! I think you've captured the room nicely and show the detail of it very well. One image of this room cannot possibly do it justice, but I have been looking at the detail of it all and am very impressed. This one image does capture the detail of the architecture and paintings in every corner. As you mentioned above, it is amazing that they created this much detail using only natural light. It is also amazing that something like this is still standing and in such good condition. Glad you enjoyed your trip. Oct 14th
9 Oct 25 Reply Thank you for your comments, Douglas. I am liking Affinity Photo the more I use it. It is more closely related to Photoshop, which I have never used, except Photoshop Elements when I first started out. Once I starting using Lightroom at Version 3, I never really went back to Elements. One thing I like with Lightroom is the ability to quickly adjust multiple photos from the same shoot. Affinity is more of a one photo at a time type of editing.

I never upgraded to the Adobe subscription model for their software and I am stuck with Version 6 of Lightroom and rapidly getting behind with the new tools that have been coming out. I am also trying to teach myself Darktable, which is more like Lightroom, but with a vastly different user interface.

I read yesterday that some changes are coming with Affinity Photo. I don't know what those changes will be, but they were bought out by Canva software a year or so ago. I do have a perpetual license with what I have, but may be in a similar situation as Lightroom if they go to a subscription model, too. Only time will tell, I suppose.

9 Oct 25 Reply Thank you for your thoughts on this, Yvonne. It was nice to get the camera back out again, though I felt a bit rusty with it. Guess I should stop taking breaks with it... :) Oct 14th
9 Oct 25 Reply Thank you, Jim. I will play around with the vignette a little bit to see if I can get closer to Sabine's image. I like it as well. Oct 14th
9 Oct 25 Reply Thank you for your comments, Sabine. I like what you have done with this image. I was having trouble reducing the brightness of the highlight to the right of the flower and have it look natural. You did that nicely. I will play around with the vignette some more. Maybe I wasn't applying it enough. Oct 14th
9 Oct 25 Comment You have captured a very unique perspective of the very scenic Multnomah Falls. I love this area of Oregon and have seen these falls many times over the years. You have shown how green the area is and I like the moss on the tree branches adjacent to the bridge and the slow shutter speed succeeds in making the waterfall milky. You can also see just a flash of the upper falls in the upper left hand corner of the image. Your editing brings out the colors of the falls nicely.

It's possible, the "unwanted color" of the waterfall could be due to the removal of the branches covering it and the recreation the software did of the falls. This is just a guess. I am curious why you chose to mirror the image horizontally.

I considered going to this event, though was unable to make it happen. Hope you were able to take some of the other photo tours they offered. They all looked to go be very photogenic locations.
