It took some effort to get the exposure right on this. Being new to using an off camera flash, it took a little bit to get the settings right. All the chrome on the camera made it a challenge to keep the highlights down, yet still have good exposure on the rest of it. I did want the background to be black, guess I could have done more with the editing. You have a common thought on the film canister. I will be more mindful with "accessories" in future shots. Thank you for your input, Sabine. |

The camera strap does add to that "bygone" era. Initially, I considered not including it, but after seeing it again for the first time in a long time, I knew it had to be included. I appreciate your comments. |

Thank you for your feedback, Jim. It was a fun little project for me and is the first time I have really done something like this. I added the film canister to add a little more to the "story." I plan to try this again with other objects around the house, including other cameras I have. I will be a little more mindful of the location and focus of other accessories in those photos. |

With your description, I think having the nun in the photo makes it that much better. I like your conversion to black and white. That adds to the historic nature of the building. I wonder if you had the complete sign on the left of the frame in the photo whether that would add to the story, especially with the nun coming out after you. It may not be possible, it would put emphasis on your title of the photo. Nice shot. |

This is an interesting idea to add one of your own photos to this photo as if it were actually there. I like that the whites are pure white and the blacks pure black with minimal mid tones. I don't know how hard it would be as this exceeds my editing skills, but, as was suggested, it seems the portion of the hat that extends beyond the upper wall should be removed. A very good idea, I like what you have done with it. |

It is interesting that you mention photographing treasured items instead of keeping them. After playing around with this, I had exactly that thought with some items I still hang onto. That is something I may start playing with.
I tried different locations and amount of focus of the roll of film, some more in focus, some less so. With this, I chose more of a middle ground to lessen it's emphasis. Thank you for your input, I do appreciate it. |

I played around with the roll of film. I have shots without it and with it in different locations. Because that roll of film is undeveloped, I even thought about putting it in the camera and "playing" with it that way. Thank you for your comments. |

A very colorful photo. I like the contrast of the yellows of the mushrooms and the greens of the grass against the dark background. It appears there may be dust or something on the background that is a little distracting. I am curious, what type of lighting did you use on this? |

I like this shot, as well. I like the colors in this and the branches add a little to the story. |

This is a great photo of a good looking dog. I like the shallow depth of field and that you've taken this down at her level, instead of with you standing (something I do too often). You said you did quite a bit of cropping, my suggestion would be to let the crop out just a little bit to give a little bit more room around the edges of the frame. Either way, I agree that this is something you could hang on your wall. |

This is quite an abstract image. Without your description, I would not have guessed it was water flowing over a dam with the angle of the water at a diagonal. But, after reading, I can see that with the top of the dam in the corner.
I think the flow of fast moving water is an interesting subject, especially using slower shutter speeds. I'm not sure with this image whether the top of the dam adds to it, though. It is a little too small in the frame to really make out what it is. Perhaps more of the dam to show the context of the flowing water, or none of the dam to keep it more of an abstract image. I think I also like the color image better as it seems to add a little bit more to it. It would be interesting to see other shots at that location. |
