Thank you for your comments. The light that day was very nice as it was coming in and out from behind the clouds. As was also suggested by others in the group, I will play around a little more with the photo to bring out a little more. |

Thank you, I appreciate your comments and suggested edits. I will play around with the photo to incorporate the comments I received here. The dark blue was the clouds from the incoming storm. We didn't get any thunder that I recall, but did get some rain. |

Thank you for your comments. Unfortunately, I do not have a wider crop of the tree. There was a tree just to the left of this one that I was trying to keep out of the image. I took several shots, moving around, and this was the cleanest without the other tree branches getting in too much. I have included the original photo. |

Thank you for your comments. I will play around with some contrast and see what I can do to it. I usually hesitate to add too much and over process the image. |

Thank you for your comments. The "sky" in the background is actually the dark storm clouds from the storm that was moving in. Others also thought it was the sky. It may be possible the clouds are still over saturated for you, but I did want to clarify. |

This is a great photo of what appears to be a very happy couple. You captured them well. It is great that they were willing to let you photograph them, and for 45 minutes at that. I bet you got a bunch of great photos. I have never been comfortable enough to shoot strangers like this. You made some good choices with your editing. Removing the pole and power lines helps create a nice, peaceful scene. |

You are right, this is a challenging photo. I understand wanting to capture the color of the sun and sky with the smoke in the air. Living in California, I have seen many sunrises and sunsets affected by wildfire smoke. The color of the sun can be very dramatic in those conditions. I like how you "balanced" the sun on the top of the pole. The timing was very good.
I tried a different crop to remove much of the tree on the left. I seemed to have lost much of the dramatic color, though. |

This is a great capture of a sunflower. The yellow against the darker background really boosts the color of the flower. I like your choice of the crop and the depth of field that has the flower sharp throughout the image. I also like your watercolor edit of the photo. Hopefully, you will get more sunflowers next year for more photo opportunities. |

What a nice place to take photos. You succeeded in capturing something interesting in the foreground and the background. The photo could possibly use a little more contrast or vibrancy to help the colors of the foreground flowers pop a little more.
That tower looks interesting and it probably has an fascinating history. It almost looks like its part of some old European castle. Nice photo. |

I like this photo of an old building and the background story of it. Old buildings can be interesting. Too many times they are just torn down and something new is built in their place. The power line does not bother me that much as it adds to the context and age of the building.
I did try a slightly different crop to remove the lights on the right side of the photo. I thought they were a bit distracting. Not sure what you think about that. Have you considered converting this to black and white?
Nice photo.

I also like this photo and think it was well done. I think using the black background was the right choice and helped make the colors pop. The addition of the suitcase was a good idea. It is a very creative photo and I hope it does well in the competition. Good job! |
