I like the composition and the subject of this image. Having some more space would have helped I think. Though you may perhaps give it a try with the content aware scaling in photoshop.
The black and white could be perhaps be redone in order to give it more of a bw effect.

At first glance, this is one of the fun photos for me due to the unusual situation. I think that the photo is good as it is. |

Hi Alan. The squares are actually salt pans and they are usually quite large in size. If you Google salt pans Malta you will be an idea especially you may find aerial view images. |
