Nice capture,Charles. Nicely framed by the trees on both sides. The background provides a lovely continuity and points of interest to the image with nice warm tones.
My first instinct is to make a mono silhouette of the statue as suggested earlier and by by perhaps adding a vignette, in which case you are saying 'I just want the viewer to look at this statue I found in a pastoral'. Whereas your original is also providing a view of a gentle background tree lined landscape on a sunny winters day as well. Either way I think it works. |

Well done… before reading your caption I thought it was shot taken underwater in the sea…. Such an interesting shot even without the 'cleanup' !!!!
How to communicate the scale of this creature is a challenge… would it ruin the image if there was a fellow observer in the frame ? … reflections would probably be an issue.
Good shot !!! |

Very clear storytelling of an event In the city involving dangerous vipers…. composition is effective and must have been challenging. Man in foreground is very serious which is in keeping with the theme of danger….I like to see the man in the background as it provides an additional context for your story. You might consider reducing the visibility of the architecture in the background by blurring, reducing exposure or vignette… other than providing an urban setting to the image it doesn't need to be clear… for me the lights are distracting, maybe remove them or at least reduce the brightness. |

You have captured a lovely moment in the dancers routine very well … sharp with nice colour , lovely pose. The dark background works for me… providing a contrast to the dancer and her dress. I would consider increasing exposure of her face …. The detail and shades etc of her dress doesn't need a lot of processing in my view. You might consider an alternative crop, with the dancer a little to the right of centre which would change the viewer's perspective of her movement. |

I find the warm tones and colours in this image very appealing . Given the the singer is backlit with most of the detail in the shade, I would consider doing further work to reduce the background detail… other than providing a warm tone the background detail doesn't add to the image in my opinion. As suggested a vignette would help focus on the singer. Also the tambourine is providing a perfect mirroring of the sun and is quite distracting. You might consider reducing the brightness there or perhaps you have another image in a burst that captures the singers pose but has a different orientation of the tambourine which doesn't appear so exposed. Well captured !!! |

Great image….if I recall this car had very bold curves and shapes….clearly difficult to get definition of the curves in the bodywork, which is better defined in the colour version…..such an iconic car, didn't have them on this side of the Atlantic….Im sure you also have a shot with more of the vehicle. |

Very interesting crop…. My initial reaction was 'what is this '… I'm sure your intention is to challenge the viewer in that way.
One could imagine two divergent perspectives here : one of an abstract image which would require a much tighter crop with all the details of the parts of the engine … on the other hand more of a documentary story would be a wider view encorporating the entire engine and more of the drive shaft and maybe the badge , more like your original
Well done |

Cindy, really admire your still life images. Recognising / choosing the subject is a great skill and of course, the execution, which you have done beautifully here, is also important …. Lovely image !!!
Did you use a prime / macro lens here ?? |

James, Great piece of architectural photography. I agree with the other's comments about the colour image.
Would you consider providing more contrast to the building to make it stand out from the sky in the mono version
I'm not at all familiar with the building so the image prompts me to ask 'is there more to see down below where this is cropped'… the diagonal lines on both sides at the bottom of the frame make the image give me the impression that's there's more to see here
Good job!!

I like this image Lorna…. One of the challenges of photographing these majestic mountains, in my view, is that they seldom tell the story I am trying to share about what I'm seeing. I think you have solved this by including the lines of trees in this image…. the viewer has a good understanding of what trees look like in this setting and easily gets a sense of the scale of the landscape in the image. The clouds/ fog as well as the trees among the peaks and how the peaks have been folded upwards, in the geological past, also adds to the view of layers of the landscape into the distance …. Well captured!!! |
