The ripples separate the water from the background. Without the sep, it would look like a bird on a piece of paper. IMO, as Tom says, "it looks more natural."
I used the Black eye dropper on the bird's eye and no change. I used the White Eye Dropper on some belly feathers and it lightened the image nicely. I was unable to move it in here, but it may be worth a try. |

We're hoping. I think we sent a good selection, but the others will also. Fun. |

I like Ed's increased "darkening" and I'm alone in saying to add more Contrast. I like the vignette. If the rock is volcanic, shouldn't it be much darker? I moved the edited image off and into PS and ran it thru Noiseware and got the sky smoothed out. Did I understand that you are signed up to be a Visiting Prof''r on Turkey and Armenia history?
I've never been to Turkey, but I spent a month in Armenia. |

I can tell that it's an old truck from the 1934 Colo license plate. My birth year, so I can tell how the truck feels: ach-ie all over.
If you're going to do more film photography as a fun hobby, may I rec a Canon EOS Elan. There was a family of Elans, Elan 2,3, etc before digital, but the Elans were Canon's first fully electric, more so than the Pentax, and it uses the same lenses as the Canon Digital Rebel Xsi and onward. I have two of them. The last time I looked, B&H had the film EOS Elan Used for around $100.
Believe it or not, the 12 mpx Rebel Xsi (vintage 2008) is still my only digital camera. "It's not the camera body, it's the Lenses." |

Agree with alll above. The eyes in Ed's comment are really effective; and as they say, the eyes are a focal point for the viewer. Nicely done all over. |

Good ideas.
I was shooting film as opposed to digital, so the cautionary thinking about the cost of processing was still embedded in my technique. I'm sure I missed a lot of nice shot opportunities as a result, but "that's the what it was in those days." thanks |

I prefer #3 and #5 for composition, and I prefer the red on the head. |

CONGRATULATIONS:
I saw your "Brewing Storm" (photo of two Rhinos) on page 42 of the April PSA Journal (coverage of the ICPC "InterClubPrintsComp't'n") and the recognition of its First Place Award in Large Monochrome. This put your (India) Club in First Place after two Rounds with 181 points. We're right behind with 180 points. I see that your Club was the Host Judging Club for Round One and your members combined Rd 1 with Rd 2. We (Our Club, Sun City TX) was the Round Two Host Judging Club. I was on the Committee, but not as a Judge and recall seeing this photo. Very Nice. |
