I'm a dinosaur: Still using Elements. No Lightroom, No PS.
Kelby: Totally Desaturate in a Layer.
then in a Levels Layer change RGB to Red and adjust white and black sliders to the edges of the Histogram.
Then do the same to Green, Then to Blue.
Then adjust the Blue MidTone slider to taste, Then the Green, then The Red. then do these three again from the top.
I use Contrast instead of Sharpen.
Then Nik Color Efex and Detail Extractor, and if a person, Skin Softener.
I forget: Maybe the Hue/Saturation Level is above the Levels Layer. I sometimes get in backwards. Easy to recognize, easy to fix, just move the layer. |

I like "Original 3" best of all. |

Somdut's comment that it's a "matter of taste" is appropriate. You did a good job when you brought out the clouds and sky.
Since I've not been active in PSA's Salons for a long time, I'm wondering what experience DD32 members can give about their experience with "barrel" and other un-straight components? |

I fall back on the concept of "foreground, middleground, and background" for whenever that is possible, therefore my vote is to not crop the foreground. I like your conversion and straightening the walls. |

It appears that "the equipment" or the "right equipment' is critical for shots such as this one, whereas for most of the photos we see in DD32, equipment isn't as critical as composition and focus. |

Terrific. I'm sorry to be commenting so late, because Diana and Stephen seem to have the points identified and well covered. Nice work. |

I don't know how I missed the colors. Thanks for pointing them out, and thanks to Tom for his Grayscale version. Diana: I too like portraits that include them doing something related to their hobby, or vocation. And the woman doing the face-painting is a fine artist at her craft. We have a strong Latin population here and they're fine people and great for the community. |
