You're the master, Tom, of the Midwestern scenes. I, too, can go either way with the board ends. If you think they detract from the kiddos, then crop.
Since it is obviously not staged, you might try to enter it into PhotoJournalism. |

Oh, for a cloudy day to eliminate the bright areas. Better schedule a third trip.
Your symmetry is perfect and the dof is right on. |

A great shot of the bird. I'm confused: Is it an Eagle or a Vulture? Doesn't matter, I guess. I like Steve's conversion, but I think everyone would agree that it needs a background? |

The discussion re the background: It looks like a Zoo? Well, where else will a person find two immature elephants. However, Diana did a good job of separating them in a meaningful way. What makes her image work is the very dark veg behind the animals. |

I think the hidden hand would be ok to show, as well as the part of the scarf that was hidden originally, but is now in Tom's image. And, I don't see anything wrong with the dim light showing through the backdrop. Apparently Tom left it in as well.
I like the expression and countenance of the main man. Tells a story. |

Yes, the distance between the ripples is in feet, not inches. The entire image was far enough away that the sand grains are not in focus. These hills are very large. |
