32 Oct 24 Comment In your conversion, you lightened the reflections of the boats in the water very nicely......and brought out detail in the trees. Increasing the CONTRAST helped the boats to stand out "more better." Oct 18th
32 Oct 24 Comment Given some thought to our practice of selecting color vs mono, ..... to have a group of photographers who are all enrolled in a Study of Mono, predicts the response except in obviously bizarre situations.
I think your mono conversion is well done and fits the subject.
It (maybe) could be lightened just a bit overall.

32 Oct 24 Reply The bird and I stared at each other for a while. It had no apparent fear. Sort of curious, wanting to communicate, friendly. I had a long lens which, I'm told, some birds consider to be the eye of a predator, but this bird showed no fear. Oct 12th
32 Oct 24 Reply In the Layers Palette, open Levels, and then Hue/Saturation. Move the Sat slider all the way to the left. Then in Levels, change the Channel from RGB to Red. Move the black and white points in to the edge of the histogram. Do the same for Green and Blue, then starting with Blue move the Mid tone slider to where you like it, then do the same for G and R. then repeat the entire Kelby process with smaller adjustments. The eye and the brain serve as editing tools. You should have some idea of the end result or of what you like as you do this. Be sure Hue/Saturation is above Levels in the Layers Palette. If not satisfied, open the Kelby-adjusted image in Nik Silver Efex and try MoreSilver and nearby pre-sets for more minor adjustment..
I found the Sandhill Cranes to be very confident in their movements, curious, and intelligent BIG birds.

32 Oct 24 Reply Interesting, indeed. I can see someone fabricating it just for the purpose. Cool. Oct 3rd
32 Oct 24 Comment Tom, I think this image in monochrome is a well done conversion and composition. Not only the iron chain, but the texture of the wood. The shadows add a nice bit. Oct 3rd
32 Oct 24 Comment Stephen, sorry to say this, but I think your image is better in color than mono, at least as well as I think I could convert it. Oct 3rd
