Mine, too, is an older version. I suspect you receive notices from them about their new software just as I do. It's still the best tool around, IMO. thanks for comment. |

Nice job of focusing to get the water in the back soft.
You don't need to see the entire snake to know it's a snake, so cropping as you did and as commented is the right thing to have done.
Either color or mono, but the mono has more impact due to the contrast and sharpness. |

I think folded paper yearns for crispness and sharpness. I'm not sure about the whole idea ..... but that's just because this is not "my thing." |

Have you tried this in Nik/Silver Efex? You might find some interesting tools. Different borders, vignettes, etc. I think the prior comments re left balance are right on.....I like having the people included. You're lucky to live near Yosemite. |

Color: Very nice: No improvements needed.
Am very sorry to see you depart our little group. When there's spare time, ok to sign in and see what we're doing.
Best wishes.

OK: Decision Time: Diana's comment about evaluating the competition (in this case the abundance of expected Bird entries) and the favorable comments about the mono, especially with the black background >>>>> I'll be entering this in Monochrome with the black background. Thanks for the nice advice and comments. wes |

I'm thinking about submitting this to our Club's Annual Competition in November, in either Monochrome or Animals. What do you think? B&W or Color? |

Birds tend to think (or so I'm told) that the lens is the eye of a Predator, so that's what makes them such poor models (until they are trained to know differently.) |

What would you think if in the Mono version I replaced the background with a solid black or just a light black?
thanks |

Somebody stole the seat cushions!!!!
Nice travel photograph.
I don't see how or where you could lighten parts of it to increase the contrast (which I think would be helpful.)
I didn't notice your wife until I read where you pointed it out. I'd say "in"

The B&W conversion is just right (and it did solve the problems you mentioned.)
Action shot is good, sharpness of both the animals and the ground is good. Very nice.
The sepia effect tends to reduce the contrast (brightness) between light and dark areas, however. |
